Our House district four candidate James "Rus" Russell vote flyer. #VOTE #AR04 #Arkansas. If turnout in my little neck of the woods was over 3 times bigger than usual for the first two days, I can't imagine what things will look like Nov 3, but there will be some surprises.

Went to hot springs, 1 hr rural drive. Was going to post about it tomorrow, but can't sleep. Anecdotal caveat, but I saw more Shoffner signs and other Dem signs than I ever remember. I saw one Tom Cotton sign. No Trump signs at all, even where they had been before. May have missed them.

I don't recall effects of the covid shot happening this soon. I was thinking I'd get one good night's sleep before two or three days of feeling like crap. Maybe since it hit so fast it won't last as long.

It does go to illustrate that democrats have been doing a lot of work, & corporate media is covering none of it. When they expose stuff like this, msm still doesn't cover it. I hope they start giving all their info to independent media. This dynamic isn't working for anybody but trump & corporate.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

As I suggested for @thebulwark.com this fall, RFK Jr is a eugenicist at his core. It’s why he talks about autism like it’s contagious. It’s why he want to deprive people of SSRIs. And of course it’s why he’s saying that “Arabs don’t produce literature.” He’s a eugenicist and a fascist, simple as.

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Elections, trends, and underfunded state parties can lead to party instability and loss of political power projection for well over a decade. Look no further than Wisconsin and Missouri which could well have political strength on the state level they havent had since the pre-Obama era

Another brand new edition of the State Legislative Election Watch is out now covering November's elections in Colorado, Missouri, & Wisconsin! Can the Democrats break/form supermajorities and flip the Wisconsin legislature at the same time? Find out below! uncrewed.substack.com/p/state-legi...

Seeing how little coverage that house report that added another rape accusation to Trump's tally got today, I looked back on just the front page Benghazi stories (there were many, many more inside over these months).

In the last few weeks i've been bombarded with emails from people who have minor tech support problems. ChatGPT is telling them to email me, writing their emails, and compiling "evidence packets" after convincing them they have stumbled on a major story: www.404media.co/chatgpt-keep...

That's going to happen to a lot of people, whether they're running for office or not, within the next 3 to 6 months.

Micah@rincewind.run

1. Lose election 2. Assume Trump will steal election for him 3. Trump is flailing around and failing to steal his own election 4. Oh shit oh fuck

He made the fatal mistake in a Trump alliance of losing an election and ending up with no power.

"Flávio has given up." A Bolsonaro family adviser tells The Washington Post he’s terrified his father, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, will DIE IN JAIL, and that he could be jailed himself THIS WEEK. Flávio effectively conceded defeat after Trump stopped short of intervening, per WaPo

The democratic candidate is excellent, serves in the legislature, very approachable. He's been all over AR. But it's hard to gain traction when democratic campaigns aren't getting covered & amplified. Add a weak state party apparatus, & it's hard to get a leg up. Senate & hd#2 are the best chance.

On top of our first day turnout in my little county being almost four times what it usually is for midterms, I'm wondering what we're gonna see Nov 3. Haven't experienced that feeling in a while.

Or maybe rocky horror picture show would be a better example, dress outlandishly, bring props, and see a man living in another world.

Colom does seem like he has some juice. Shaking hands outside the Trump rally in Mississippi with his supporters waiting in line

He. Is. Insane. I'm not saying it as a pejorative. He's gone, and no one who's able is doing anything about it. They're just propping him up until the elections. It’s kind of absurd to imagine the individual initiates contact. That’s not how it works. But the frequency of goofs makes me wonder.

Absolutely. I think it would make a huge difference. Start after this election and build over the next two years, then maintain after 2028. A big part of where we are is because voters don't see the party differences. We know them, but voters don't see it. It's why so many are Kenan Thompson

When I was a kid we had a tornado. Our neighbor had a storm cellar, so we got in it. We were the only ones there. It tore up part of the city and killed 30 people. Days later a warning out of town was issued. We went to the cellar again. It was packed. Don't know what made me think of that story.😏

Somehow I doubt those are conservatives racing to the polls to support the party of ICE and the President with an approval with Hispanic voters that's maybe in the upper 20s as I recall? Yeah I think they are coming out for the other reasons. And that's a truly good chunk of the electorate often.

The biggest mistake they're making is to reveal, amazingly for the first time, that they really don't know their own voters. So when they're trying to hit cultural issues and make cheesecake factory a thing, they don't even know how rural people live or what their daily lives are like.

Any one of them if they were running against tom cotton i'd hold my nose. But I think everyone's goal in the party needs to be that they're out after this term if they win, and neuter them while they're in office. That should send them the message if nothing else will.

There's nuance here about "how do we use platforms owned by the fascists". You *have to understand the political purpose of the platforms* in order to use them to subvert authoritarians. For the most part, Americans simply do not. Centrists (including DNC consultants) do not. Major media does not.

IMO, older incumbent democrats need to shift their rhetorical style away from Bill Clinton, and even Obama, though both can be very direct when the circumstances call for it.

George Monbiot@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

The main thing I got from some other posts is if you attack and correct disinformation, do it from your position, putting your people out front, while amplifying, spreading hashtags, etc, not replying or reposting the opponents' trolls.
