We turned away from the light when we invented a way to go online without the computer screaming in warning.

~1970 I had a typewriter terminal+modem in my off-campus apartment, used to dial into mainframe at Penn State, very tare at time. One time the line dropped, and a seemingly-stressed operator was on line saying “What’s happening?” I told her it was OK, just talking to computer.

Also when always online became the default (and I'm not just saying that because I would like an alarm clock besides my phone screaming). I should be able to have my computer sync everything once in the morning and once in the evening without multiple things yelling that the Internet is gone.
