What a brilliant tour!!! I feel like I should have paid for this thread!!! Thank you! Only thing I didnt like about living in urban Asia compared to living in Vancouver was the lack of trees. And loved those buildings with narrow staircases! My friends place was on 14th floor. Great exercise!

Oh, while you're in Tokyo you should check out shimokitazawa. A few years ago they buried the Odakyu Odawara Line and built Shimokita Senrogai on top - a nice linear park and really interesting set of buildings.

So, love to see a real itinerary post … Been ever so long since being in Japan, both times tourism piggybacked on work travel. Your thread is a nudge to wanting to return — in part to see society through the lens of changed/developed perspectives re urbanism, energy, … Really enjoyed the thread.

You'd find Japan simultaneously different & unchanged, with fun shifts in urbanism e.g. Takanawa Gateway City. As a 20+ year resident travelling nationwide for work, I recommend avoiding summer. The last 3 years of heat/humidity have been brutal!
