For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art

i hate to be a bummer, but doesn't this mean that art isn't safe on the INTERNET IN GENERAL, now? anyone can download or screenshot pictures from not just Bsky, but anywhere online, and then upload it to twitter with the express purposed of generating an Ai image from it...

I can’t imagine how Disney (or any creative studio but like come on) hasn’t sued yet, this tool would make it trivially easy to go on their twitter and make something vile in like two clicks

I like to train myself to spot AI. And even with this Miku image, I can see multiple mistakes. The hair is a big one. And notice the yellow pattern on the skirt. But this is so disgusting. They must be so desperate for other peoples art if they designed it to bypast Glaze and watermarks 😔

Yes, but unfortunately glaze does not stop AI from altering a piece, it only makes it difficult for AI to understand and replicate someone's overall "style". So if you asked it to make an image in the style of <artist> and it's trained off images with glaze, the image will come out weird.

I'm not sure about nightshade in this case. I know it's mean to poison data sets when used in training, but I'm not sure how it acts when being used as a direct base like this for a model that's already trained, sorry.

All theses companies need to be sued!! At no other time was it ok to steal Intellectual property and this needs to be stopped. Hopefully once the Trump nightmare is over AI will be regulated.

Also the ai is basically letting creeps edit real children in sexual scenario basically they're allowed child porn and Twitter will get absolutely scorched by the courts and FBI over that

The removing glaze bit was most certainly not intended, as it is trivially easy to remove Glaze, even by accident. Not like it even worked to any degree that was claimed; it was snake oil for desperate people. The watermark bit is definitely on purpose tho. Of-fucking-course.

I mean one of the big pushbacks Elogated Muskrat got back in nerd spaces was when people gave him shit for getting mad about reposting art without credit As in, he got mad he was being told to credit an artist

Jokes too. He'd either copy and paste someone marginally more clever than him (low bar) or sometimes just post a screenshot with the username cropped out. Man's spent his whole life putting his name on OTHER people's creations. It was literally part of his deal to buy Tesla, which he DIDN'T create.

And it doesn't even work for its designed purpose. People on Reddit tried to train LoRAs with glazed images, and it did nothing. You also cannot find a single example on YouTube where someone demonstrates it working.

It is also *distressingly* permissive of making edits of children so long as the result isn't outright nude. (Having someone make your sexy art be of kids without your knowledge or consent was about the worst scenario we could think of for this, so we were curious if the usual ineptitude meant -

might I suggest bsky.app/profile/tast...

tastelesssandwiches@tastelesssndwiches.bsky.social

if you're too concerned that by deleting your twitter people might begin impersonating you I suggest completely deleting every post, follow the instructions here there's even a video tutorial for extra clarity github.com/lucahammer/t... After that just lock your account, log out and don't look back

... I understand why someone would make such a feature. I also understand that that's the rudest goddamn thing I've heard of in years. If I reply to an artist with half-assed edits to their piece, they have every right to stick a stylus in my eye.

Most of the artists will just crawl back to Twitter due to the majority of followers being there, and also because they just spent a lot of time on the app. Adding the new AI option AFTER they improved their algorithm to make artists post their work is straight up EVIL.

They really don't have the 'are we the baddies?' gene do they? I mean not even a shred of it... It's the difference between buying a bike off a bloke down the pub without too many questions, and actually filing the frame number off..!

The first few posts I saw about this 'Edit Image' button were kind of vague about how it works. This sounds awful. My first guess was a button that recognises common meme templates and gives you an inline generator for the same template. That could have been cool.
