Look I’ll admit I was a fan of Doug (I discovered him when I was in middle school), but I’m starting to watch him less now probably for different than your thinking, but I think his method for reviewing movies is flawed and kind became the framework for the flawed system many others used (1/?)

Like the reviews kind of spoiled the entire movie so you could experience it for yourself. Like more of a summary than a review. Plus due to the fact it was mostly negative stuff, if you were interested in film well imagine instructions to build a chair but they only told you what not to do (2/?)

Granted, maybe I just watched way too much YouTube as a kid, and I know critics can be well not the most subtle when you criticize their job, but I don’t know maybe I’m just criticizing the YouTube algorithm as a whole for promoting more “This thing is bad feating witty commentary” (?/3)

I guess what I want to say is that I’m not saying they’re no such thing as a bad movie, video game, anime, etc. I just feel like the Nostalgia Critic method is flawed and kind of removed the discovery factor when it comes to media (and least in my viewpoint). Have a good day, sorry for the rant (4/4)

Yeah, I think I just had a lot on my mind and this was an excuse to say my thoughts out loud. Plus I don’t want to sound rude, but just because a style was popular at a certain time doesn’t mean it’s going to age well in the future or maybe it’s just a too much of good thing situation IDK.

I am only thankful for the creators i found there that i actively still follow and seeking out more people in that video format lead me to TJ Omega and Kamen rider.

Its surreal to see such a monolith of internet culture of the late 2000's just be completely irrelevant like this. Like an Internet Ozymandias, all that's left of it is a ruined channel, a relic who claims to remember it, so we don't have to--- only to be forgotten in turn by their own hubris.

Like right-wingers emulating Rome, you have internet grifters trying to emulate and prop up this old internet titan, unable to accept his fall, and only tell on themselves when featuring them and making the same mistakes, lack of growth and inaction that left them dead and irrelevant.

At one point he was the Critic of Critics, look on his works and despair--- now nothing beside remains. And honestly the internet is better for it and so many people emerged redefine the formula he was too stuck in his ways to innovate and refusing too do so while he burned all his bridges.

Yeah, Strider initially cut ties with him back in 2018… but he started associating with him in 2021. I think he said on Twitter at the time that he decided to forgive him since he was impressed how Doug treated his actors during Covid and felt as though he had changed.

Sigh… look Strider seems like a nice guy and an EXTREMELY forgiving person, and TBF I have heard (including from some former contributors) that the on-set working conditions at CA have significantly improved since the days of the anniversary movies: with Malcom being a SAG actor and all.

Still, I don’t really think that’s enough for me to “forgive” Doug: especially since he was (allegedly) complicit in a lot of other shit. But I give Strider this: I understand his reasoning for his continued association with Doug, WAY THE HELL MORE than I do Brad Jones’ BS reasoning.

Back in its heyday I actively tried to join that site. Several of my videos were featured and I even co hosted the book podcast. When the news kept coming out, about jewwario, about Doug, about Michaud and the misogyny and the everything, I it made me physically ill. Ashamed of that time now.

Thing that sums up the Walker bros- doing vlogs for shows like Steven Universe and Gravity Falls, realising the camera wasn't running for big episodes and putting out videos essentially saying "We don't respect you enough to do it again. You will receive nothing for this major episode."
