The ~1% of workers who make minimum wage will probably always require some variety of housing subsidy, which would ideally be funded out of property taxes.

we have 700-800/month micro studios here that are affordable on a minimum wage ($16.80) income. filtering + very small dwellings can absolutely make this doable specifically for one person households working full time at minimum wage — households with kids or other nonworkers are arguably harder

I made my NIMBY mom feel bad by saying "what? Do you want to force <minority> to live in Texas or in freedom here in Delaware?" It worked on my dad basically instantly and he enthusiastically supports the mega-tower above the Marina SF Safeway.

Yeah. He's lived in the Marina SF area for 40 years now so you get used to the unchanging skyline. But he hates Trump and Republicans so much more.
