I'm so so so thankful my doctor is the only person who has to review my state-mandated twice yearly urine screen and all she has to do is report "expected" or "unexpected" back to the state, because it took me several years to find that "Benadryl can pop as methadone"

She, thank god, would frown at it every time and say "I should figure out what's causing that false positive" and mark me compliant instead of accusing me of all kinds of shit based on The Infallible Test(tm)! It gave me the room to get curious and go find those papers!

Solving that problem *seriously* made me relax, because now I have a paper to produce if I ever need to do an employment urine screening or whatever. (Now the metabolism issue that means my window of detection for PRN meds is a lot smaller than some people's, that's a whole different story.)

She also said up front, even before our state legalized, "as far as I'm concerned, that "THC" column doesn't exist and I will never look at it" and "just tell me honestly in advance if there will be positive results for (subset of other Schedule I drugs included in the "drugs of abuse" panel)"

good! in practice the one place i (am compelled to) do them is to get patients into mental health facilities; we lost that fight and im not gonna get the patient the care they need without it it's an administrative process, not a clinical test

I work forensic inpatient psych. One of our patients had a + fentanyl UDS and I told them it was most likely a false, bc very few of our pts get to leave the fac. They tested everyone and we had 9 more + for fentanyl and/or meth. Nobody believed me until the quants came back negative for everyone.
