What Honey has done is created a classic prisoner's dilemma scenario. As an end user of honey, why exactly should I stop using it? If I uninstall it, the prices I pay for things go up. Using Honey from a user's perspective is all upside and no downside. So the user equation remains unchanged.

From a merchant's perspective they know that from a user's perspective people will continue to use it as per the argument above, this means that Honey's user base is the same, and all the arguments for partnering with Honey remain unchanged.

From a creator's perspective, Honey will remove the creator's referral code regardless if you partner with them or not, so the decision to partner with honey has nothing to do with Honey removing the referral code. Again, the equation remains unchanged.

When I tried Honey years ago, it didn’t seem like it really worked as intended and I felt something was up. Gave up using it long ago, and seems like that was the right call in the end. Straight up robbery to content creators.

I appreciate the video for promoting this to a MUCH wider audience. You touch on weight that sponsorships bring for CCs, but I was hoping for some sort of mea culpa for the part played in misleading people. Yes, this primarily affected CCs, but via the 2nd point consumers were stolen from as well.

I'm curious what the read on other shopping extensions like Capitol One Shopping is. I know that if you have both Honey and COS they cancel each other out depending on which one you activate last. So I bet they're both doing the affiliate cookie thing. COS seems to list more usable codes.

I stopped taking "therapists" seriously when I saw a psychologist for three years when I was a kid. Turned out the guy was fairly famous, wrote a book. When I finally asked him one day when he was going to cure my stuttering: "Oh, that's not why you're here." If it quacks like a duck.

As a performance marketing manager that used honey as a partner, this is so disappointing to see. I understand the last like attribution but I did not realise if honey does not find a code they still steal the last click attribution from other parties We luckily stopped using honey this year.
