this is absolutely how doing math with ai feels these days. incredible read. my addition is that there is a VAST UNTAPPED POTENTIAL for explaining math with video/audio/interactive things that ANYONE can mine with ai help right now.

for "introductory" concepts (anything in a textbook), you can make an explainer video using frontier models right now with a prompt like: > let's make a math video explaining [X]! could you use manim, maybe choose a custom font for fun, and make a [N] minute video about it. i trust your judgment.

does this actually work? my expectation would be that this results in visuals are optimized to look pretty rather than for pedagogical purposes, and that it would end up being harder to follow than a pure text writeup.

for me it sort of depends on the subject. i like to read text, and i can imagine things moving on many kinds of static diagrams. but, as diagrams get complicated, the animated aspect and the ability to sequentially highlight things starts to be really nice for the explainer video.

I showed it to my son, and I said "can you believe this only cost me 10 cents????" and he said, "yes." Critics are brutal around here.
