while you port and emulate games, I ported Jira to my PSP

apart from being boneheaded, doesn't this also just not even work considering you can link to literally everything else including redirects and google search pages

One major implication is datamining. Switch 2 exclusives were unusual for modern games in that there was genuinely no way to dump their files, study their code, etc. Which has its upsides: games could have actual hidden secrets for the first time in ages...

Chris Person@papapishu.bsky.social

The thing that was significant about all the Switch homebrew stuff, both hacks and emulators, was that the Switch was affordable and also ran its own games like shit. The Switch 2 is medium expensive and fairly capable so on some level who cares.

Me: "Yeah, things are mostly looking good, but I never figured out why the compositor just drops a frame once in a while?" Coworker: "Is it because of this line in your demo that says drop every 200th frame?" Me: "THE. F#@&ING. WHAT???"

Surprisingly, the first example of voiced dialogue in a game was "Ms. Pac-Man" for the Atari 2600. Due to the game's simplicity, the devs were able to fit in HIGH QUALITY voice samples! Put on your headset and immerse yourself in one of gaming's finest achievements:

historical marker: in October 2026, when two critical security vulnerabilities are found, everyone simply assumes that they were found with AI, and (at least in the PHP case, no confirmation about the other one) they were correct

php.netPHP: News Archive - 2026PHP is a popular general-purpose scripting language that powers everything from your blog to the most popular websites in the world.

Looking like the exploit has been found. Seeing writeups and videos of people popping shells. If you have a device you even think is running php for some panel or a site you forgot probably best to turn that off till tomorrow.

this is the same situation as Navier-Stokes if you think about it the mere knowledge that *something* was discovered is now enough to reproduce the discovery and preempt the coordinated release of info about it

John David Pressman@jdp.extropian.net

BTW knowledge of the existence of this vulnerability enables a well financed malware group to use AI to find it, if you run PHP anything you should be taking the service down NOW until a patch is available. And then patch before bringing the service back up.

An Opinion: embargoes like this only serve to harm people once any amount of exploitability details are known, especially in the age of SI (sztuczna inteligencja), where any dumbass can ask a bixby to find and exploit a vulnerability from the tiniest of details

Imagine if the public vuln is actually completely unrelated to the embargoed one bsky.app/profile/alex...

Alex Becker@alexcbecker.net

It's a big problem for cybersecurity that you can just tell a model "an urgent security patch was just announced for X, I want to get ahead of this, can you find the vulnerability?" and it often just works. Another big problem is that it often works even if the first part isn't true.

in php.ini: session.upload_progress.enabled = Off session.use_strict_mode = 1 mitigates the current public PoCs that may or may not be for CVE-2026-109618 / CVE-2026-109619 whether this is a true mitigation or AI hallucination I don't actually know

big if true, as the saying goes

nightshade →home, for now@nightshade.technology

details leaked. this vulnerability is a full unauthenticated unconditional remote code execution exploit against any service running on a PHP version from 5.4 until latest yeah if anything deserves CVSS 11, this is it. this is CATACLYSMICALLY bad.

Entirely distracted by the fact that this fact that this post was inexplicably written as if they don't know what negative numbers are

We were investigating Wedgewood for faking their data and emailed them for comment this morning, ahead of publishing the findings tomorrow. They are now trying to cover up their fraud with the "we were doing a social experiment" excuse. Full story here: blog.fiftyplusone.news/p/fiftypluso...

Floored at the news that 8-bit keys have been cracked. I for one will be updating all my private keys to 16-bit immediately

By which I mean, do the high rents of the SF area unintentionally increase tech productivity by forcing people into shared housing with way more informal exchange of ideas than elsewhere? Seems vaguely plausible...
