I'm disappointed but not surprised that none of the media outlets mention the convoy of presidential vehicles driving across the empty pool. If I had done that when my local library was getting a new reflecting pool I would have been arrested for vandalism at the very least.

Should only drain pools in the fall, winter, during cool weather. Otherwise the surface cracks and or pops.

There needs to be an independent investigation into the product that was used to coat the concrete. Was the product applied correctly? Was the preparation done correctly? Is the product approved for under water use? The manufacturer should speak up now. A real journalist would be asking.

Painting is easy. Surface preparation and knowing how to use the products you put on it properly is the hard part.

Considering it's along the expansion joints it makes me consider another option The sealant was never meant to be used on a surface so large it needs expansion joints As the slabs expanded and contracted, the sealant did so at a different rate and broke along the joint lines.
