Trump and his allies have characterized the 2024 election as a mandate for shock politics, mass deportations, and the transformation of the country’s foreign and domestic policy. There’s just one problem: They didn’t actually win by much. newrepublic.com/post/188539/...

newrepublic.comDonald Trump’s Mandate Is a MythFar from a romp, Trump’s 2024 performance is actually one of history’s smallest presidential victories.

Joe Biden has engaged massive inflationary 5T spending on nonsense, including 1.9T Covid stimulus. And sent over 200 billion to Ukraine to prolong a bloody proxy war. Did Biden have a mandate for all of this?

Millions of those illegal emigrants have zero effect to your life. One legal billionaire emigrant just bought power and is acting like the omnipotent king. He is the one that will, for sure, make the lives of most Americans very difficult. But you keep parroting what you have been told.

None that affects your daily life. Oh they sure do. They keep the prices of food lower. You have bought in that idiotic idea that the crimes are something imported. There might be some of that but the vast majority of it is home grown. BTY why are you so worked up about that You voted in a felon.

They do. I live in NYC where the city has spent 5B in the past year alone dealing with illegals. Also, we have had a significant increase in rapes, robberies and violent crime. The same is true across the country.

The idea that we should welcome millions of random, unvetted illegal immigrants from some of the most corrupt & violent places on Earth is insane. This is how we destroy the country. Deport them all!

Immigration courts have a backlog of over 3 million cases and there are only about 650 courts. While deportation is certainly within the government’s power, it would be a lot more by practical to punish undocumented immigrants with fines.

So we should just ignore our immigration laws? I came here legally. Went through the system, spent years going through all the steps. How come these random illegals, most from the corrupt 3rd world countries, can just walk in and collect the benefits? How is this fair?

Yep. Our immigration process is broken. As a result, people turn away when they see an employer with immigrant workers who might not have made it through the system. We are in for a shock if he gets his way.

Even if those numbers are correct, it's hardly a mandate as they have been claiming. He got 1.5% more votes than Harris, a mixed race woman who only had weeks to mount her campaign. MAGA will still claim a mandate and attempt to govern accordingly. They will overreach, but can they be stopped?

This claim sounds a lot like "it didn't rain on my inauguration". or "the Boy Scouts called me to say that was the greatest speech that was ever made to them", or "my new health plan is coming in 2 weeks", or "i was Michigan's Man of The Year", or ____, or ____, ...ad infin.

Their plan is to do away with the constitution and start a new government. This should be grounds for seditious conspiracy against the US government and our citizens. Threatening out own for opposing a candidate doesn't warrant threats of harm and is unconstitutional.

Did they actually win at all though? Too little reporting on the ?'s being suggested by people like Greg Palast, Stephen Spoonamore, Jessica Denson which point to the very real likelihood that (R)'s DIDN'T win...at least fairly anyway.

The truth is irrelevant to maga maniacs. It doesn't matter that he lost in 2020, that he absconded with top secret dox, that j6 was violent, that the economy improved under Biden, that he DID rape Ms. Carroll, or that women are dying and trans folks aren't a threat. Truth is dead.

I'll keep saying it. His margin of victory was pathetic. He should have steamrolled an incumbent who was dealt the bad hand Biden/Harris got. Instead, he didn't even get 50% of the pop vote.

Mass deportation was the lead promise, next to dismantling federal agencies and going after people he doesn't like. This is the GOP platform that majority voters knew most, when voting for him. THIS IS a mandate. I don't approve it. But still a mandate.

Only a problem for those who believe governance is meant to benefit everyone. Rather than rage over what he will/is doing to democracy, we need to shine a spotlight on his hypocrisy. We must win back the thin margin that forgot how bad he was and others who bet he might be different this time.
