This is WAY overdue. It is long past time for the party to hand the reins to the up and.coming young men and women who have to live in the world that we seem so eager to fuck up. And I say that as a senior. These young people are NOT dumb. They are, in fact, extremely bright. They ARE the future.

Thing is, incumbents have *massive* inbuilt advantage. An incumbent who loses a primary is doing wrong things, saying wrong things, or too aloof to fight to keep the seat. Or their challenger is simply so strong they're able to overcome the incumbency advantage. And we need strong people in office.

Since Citizens United and McCutcheon vs FEC, both parties have been hopelessly corrupted so it’s no surprise that some Dem lawmakers would not be very motivated to fight Trump. For those to be replaced, we need Dem lawmakers who follow AOCs lead and take no corporate or corrupt money.

I wouldn’t even say it’s necessarily risk. These are primary challenges- not third party runs in the general. Maybe it’s time for the centrists and mainstream liberals to line up and vote blue for a progressive for once- we’ve been expected to do the reverse for years.
