When the Trump administration started dismantling a $368 million ocean monitoring system earlier this year, scientists, fishermen and Congress fought back. On Saturday, a 238-foot ship set sail to reinstall the first batch of monitors in the waters of the Pacific.

TRUMP IS NOT JUST SCIENCE ILLITERATE, he’s a sociopath who literally doesn’t care if all Life on Earth perishes due to his ignorance, greed, and denial of empirical climate science; which could save our species and all living beings on Earth. Greedy Trump cares ONLY for what profits him, like Putin.

The amount of money we are going to have to spend to simply reinstate the helpful tools we already had but destroyed in the name of culty, grievance based, idiocy will be astronomical.

Maybe he or she will have a Dem House & Senate that will actually pass bills in support of a Dem prez so more can get done

So we the taxpayer were forced to pay to have them removed and are now paying to have them put back when they shouldn’t have removed in the first place. This will be the cycle over the next decade to repair all the damage done.

We've seen this in ON, Canada where Dug "Deep Hole" Ford came into office (Premier of ON, approx = to Governor) and instantly removed most or all of the ON Govt EV charging stations. His Maple MAGA base were thrilled. A few years later he started reinstalling them. "Look at my efficiency!"

2/2 & this scenario has played out so many times under Dug. Usually, the "contracts" to replace/undo the damage are going to his donors/friends. Again & again & again. Sound familiar USA? Biggest diff? In USA the profits almost all go to DJT, his immediate family &/or cabinet.

All Trump does is destroy. All things, tangible and intangible. Physical, structural, organizational. Careers, alliances, systems. Morality, relationships, civility, decency. Constitution, justice, democracy. You name it. He destroys it. And of course, Republicans enjoy it.

They are desperate to dismantle science, but too ignorant to realize that a modern economy *relies* on climate science to do things without people dying, or losing B$ in assets every year. The Bankers and media gronks running politics are dangerously arrogant and ignorant! (pollies are puppets)

Let me reassure you: I am concerned about the exploitation of your gullibility and the fraud perpetrated every day by this government, which serves only its own interests.

Whoever is giving him all this extreme advice should be held accountable. Is this all part of Project 2025 that a lot of independent media and Harris warned us about? Unbelievable.

Yes, both Dems and GOP are just the UI, the OS is the banking system, media and a few religious fools to do the dirty work.

Excellent initiative! Restoring vital ocean monitoring will help protect marine ecosystems and support sustainable fisheries. Glad to see science and policy working together again.

This administration is the most destructive to our society snd planet than any other in the history of our country! They are the largest terrorist network in the world. The fat orange terrorist and his klan.

💯💯 it’s so obvious to anyone with a fucking part of a brain that they are intentionally de stabilizing us and the world very much on purpose every step of the way. Bumbling like fucking idiots too.

During Trump’s first term, they destroyed any climate science data they could get their hands on - because their base doesn’t want to hear the truth. The world will never get that back… :(

Russell Vought is behind ALL of this. If it doesn't put money in Heritage Foundation member bank accounts, he doesn't believe in it. We can all die in storms as long as some fatass, entitled white people have their money.

The restoration of the Ocean Observatories Initiative off the Pacific Northwest highlights how intense pushback from lawmakers, researchers, and local fisheries can successfully reverse politically driven science cuts.

> If all goes well, the fishermen will start receiving their data again in a few days. But some researchers wonder whether the National Science Foundation is still committed to studying the ocean. < I think the question is: "does Russell Thurlow Vought still feel the need to fund ocean research?"

Maybe instead of framing the story like this the NYT could do a story on the inexplicable, illogical self-harming policies Trump has forced on America and the environment. HOW ARE THEY GOOD FOR AMERICA?
