Anyone else find "private-sector pro bono assistance" chilling? Are these unaccountable vigilantes? Maybe some of the Jan 6 rioters with presumptive pardons. Maybe Proud Boys and such, also with likely pardons lined up should they even need them, though prosecution seems unlikely.

I think this is also using the techbros and their databases to find people who abhor this government, who protest and even if they have been non-violent, to accuse them of crimes they haven't committed but might. To ratchet up surveillance.

Reminds me of this battlestar galactica line “There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.”

I mean obviously policing is a huge problem, especially in America. This post is more about Foucault’s boomerang, and it’s a quote from a decades old sci-fi series.

"The result will be a law-abiding society in which tenacious law enforcement officers protect the innocent" This comes from someone who shipped innocent people off to a concentration camp in El Salvador, so pardon me if I don't trust him to "protect the innocent."

"Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Attorney General, shall determine how military and national security assets, training, non-lethal capabilities, and personnel can most effectively be utilized to prevent crime." What the HELL?!?!?

This makes it sound like the law firms who let Trump shake them down will be expected to provide free legal services to help militarize local police departments.

The logic is transparent just as for tariffs. Canada has 0.1% of fentanyl across : they become enemies. Dems protest in the streets some crazy new EO : this is an insurrection let’s send the military. Sinking polls make protesters on a collision course with Military in the streets.

The pro-bono stuff is in the section of the EO regarding the provision of legal assistance for dirty cops, not the section dealing with the domestic use of the military. It seems to be referring to the pro bono work the big firms have agreed to do to stay off the Admin’s shit list.
