Bloomberg Editor-In Chief, Matt Winkler: “Canada since Mark Carney became PM in March, 2025, has outperformed everyone in America, the Eurozone and anywhere else in the world.”

That may be true, and if it is, congrats - but outperforming America under Trump ain't exactly like beating Usain Bolt in a 100 meter dash. It's more like beating Trump in a 100 meter dash. Carney could walk backwards in stilleto heels and still beat Trump in a 100 meter dash.

Don't forget that it was former PM Justin Trudeau that started the process of pivoting by buying TMX pipeline, signing CUSMA 1.0, (CETA) with the EU, the (CPTPP),and the Canada–UK Trade Continuity Agreement (TCA).

This is garbage from people who only look at the bottom line. Canadians' well-being is being drastically altered under austerity measures, approval of fossil fuel projects using public dollars belonging to foreign interests, ignoring climate change in the name of money, erosion of human rights...

tosummarise.comGDP has never been a measure of well-being - To SummariseGDP has never been a measure of well-being. Up to now, it's been a decent proxy for it. But the Internet and AI put pressure on that proxy

CBC has spent years ignoring every lie, misstatement and insult that has fallen out of Skippy’s mouth. They treat him as click bait.

same!! i am very happy that Canada is taking a lead in this round against Fascism!! we're happy to follow their lead and TOGETHER we will all defeat the baddies. congrats Canada on electing a really really capable PM.

We can’t expect perfection when the entire world is gone to sh*t. Let’s hope we can weather the storm and pick up dropped pieces as we go. Carney isn’t responsible for so many years of problems.

I do not claim to know anything about the economy, just concerned about the willingness to ignore established laws, including Charter rights, to push through the "nation building projects".

How cool to live in a country where its air force doesn’t have to terrify families while they’re on a beach in an attempt to “drum up patriotism”. Turns out all you need for nation-building is to be insulted by a bumbling orange fool. Elbows up, Canada! Good job.

Things are picking up for sure, all it takes is a set of eyes to see all the building going on in Canada. I haven't seen so many homes and apartments being built in the entire time I've lived in my area. Economy is still lagging behind the US, but we're beating all of Europe.

So why are Canadians falling further behind every month? Why aren't wages keeping up with inflation? Why is wealth inequality at the highest level in our country's history? Maybe "the economy" isn't real life.

Unfortunately many of these things are actually bad for Canadians and only good for the billionaires: less human rights, less environmental protection and less public services. But the bar is set very low anyways, so what do I know.

The only thing I dislike about this is talking about Canadians’ boycott of liquor like it’s just an emotional reaction Yes we’re angry and retaliating but we also know that we need to keep our money at home It’s about smarts and loyalty as much as if not more than being ticked off

The numbers don't lie. Nations and businesses seek reliability, and partners that respect laws, rules, and contracts. Amazing that Team Carney has been so successful, so quickly, given the pressures they are under from a mighty and vindictive adversary.

And, but for Carney's candidacy as the shield from Trump, a conservative would have won and duplicated Trump's "policies" (translated: transactional whimsy). Carney brilliantly exploits Trump's fickle leadership (if you can call it that).
