So EU now would have to force an end, by its own, direct, military involvement. And they do not dare. By not daring, they condemn themselves to be picked off by Russia piecemeal.

With the US swinging on Russia's side, the EU / Europeans would have to hasten to bring the war to a *successful* conclusion (at the minimum a freeze on contact lines). The current level of money support would not be sufficient but would become domestically indefensible without prospect of an end.

The Europeans too want to play this game to simulate action, while they arent acting, not even in their own interests. If Russia wins (it will if Europe continues this way), european countries will not be safe. Putin or successor will play the same game in the Baltics. EU wont dare oppose alone.

Witkoff is out of his league. So is Kushner. They are there to pretend that they are interested in pursuing peace, but actually they are there to gather info for the Putin/Trump partnership, and of course, pursue their oil deals.

That was my first thought too. Witkoff doesn't want peace. He wants capitulation from Ukraine. He's there to promote Putin's interests and the trump crime syndicate's interests, not Ukraine's.
