You know they’re only doing this cuz they’re trying actual necromancy right? Look at their games, half of the problems in those games are solved by using necromancy! Not your problems, but still!

I think there's two routes; an as-close-as-possible replacement as the Academic, or an entirely new narration character for new content (tho this option's a lot harder to pull off for the story).

That's one valid approach. They changed the main character (Korvo's) voice in "Solar Opposites," and his new voice sounded *nothing* like his old one--but instead of ignoring that, they ran with that for comedy purposes, and blatantly acknowledged within the plot of the show that it was a new voice.

This is the right outlook, Human performances should never be replicated by an AI. Regardless of if the performer it's replicating has given their approval.

Even if they took that permission, have you heard a game with AI voices in it? They stick out like a sore thumb. The flattest performance.
