A judge ordered the Admin to restore all National Parks signs it removed—including info at Acadia about indigenous history + climate change.   Visiting these parks isn’t just about the scenery. It’s also about knowing our history, the natural forces that shaped these places + the threats they face.

Maine Representative Chellie Pingree has received little to no funding from pro-Israel lobby groups throughout her congressional career. How refreshing a politician not owned by another Govt.

America clearly needs to delineate a president's real power to arbitrarily make decisions affecting America. His job is to "administrate" Congress's laws, and make decisions during emergencies, not make up his own policies OR emergencies! Unfortunately, Congress has abdicated their responsibility!

The signage thing matters more than it sounds. When you strip context from a place, you're not just removing facts—you're removing *why* people should care. Hard to build climate consensus if the parks themselves stop telling the story.

The real story here: removing context from public lands isn't just erasure, it's a specific choice. Acadia's indigenous history and climate data aren't partisan—they're factual infrastructure. Good that a court said so.

if our knowledge dies, we are doomed to believe everything. Thank you for upholding the scientific community against this tyranny of dumbification! I am not american, but we can see attacks on our educational systems & history as well. Rightwingers globally use the same playbook and we will fight it

Well, ADOLF HITLER, JOSEPH STALIN, the NORTH KOREAN DICTATOR, and especially the CONVICTED FELON, his INNER CIRCLE, and COWARDLY RED POLITICIANS, know you have to control what people read, thereby controlling their knowledge and thoughts... I'll be surprised if the federal government complies...

The White House is also a National Park. Commercial interests (e.g., UFC) are required to apply for a commercial use authorization (CUA), pay 3-5% of GROSS revenue, and restore park to pre-use condition. I know all ethical lawyers are too busy right now, but please...

I saw a segment (probably CBS because Bari was already slurping MAGA by then) where someone said, "You come to the parks as an escape. Why does politics have to get involved?" Go ride a fucking roller coaster then, or gamble on your phone. Our parks are our heritage and we need to learn from them.

I hate to admit my ignorance, but it was a poster in the inner gallery of the little Abbe Museum in Acadia that enlightened me for the first time about the "Doctrine of Discovery," so that I now finally know why we keep saying Columbus "discovered" the Americas. I hope it's still there.

Like, sure I learned in school that the Pope drew a line of demarcation and gave Spain everything west of it and Portugal everything east of it. But the cautious, minced language of school textbooks is effective. They didn't explain why the hell the Pope thought he had the RIGHT to do that.

And that Columbus, Cabral, Cabot, Balboa & al. knew darn well that the territory they "discovered" (in the technical sense of the Papal decree) was full of existing inhabitants with developed civilizations. It was not the empty, trackless wilderness of "America the Beautiful."

"My power was colossal... Yes, in power I was equal to the king. At the same time there was another power that was a trifle stronger than both of us put together. That was the Church."--Mark Twain, "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court"

Like you, Emma, I'm stunned that SCOTUS can so actively and intentionally misread the Constitution. They are, decision by decision, granting the president complete power over everything, and with immunity. I never thought I'd see the day.

Please don't forget the "parks" (monuments, really) in the hearts of cities like Baltimore, where signage about the slave history of the founders were posted... until 47's offers pulled them all down.

Let’s see how long it takes, or even IF he complies. I believe the tarp is still up on the Kennedy center hiding the names. How do we know he complied by removing his name if we can’t see it?

Most Natl Parks give us a window into the past, our history. What type of animals, foliage, trees were here. Until concrete & asphalt & high rises & AI ctrs encroached on nature. For those who choose to take vacations to other countries; you might want to look at your own before it's gone.🇺🇸🗳️

Thanks, Chellie! We must keep up the pressure on president Piggy's Regime, the Heritage Fdn and Proj 2025 and their minions to STOP LYING about science and history, in defiance of and destroying American law and culture.

Climate change falsehoods: 1960s oil gone in 10 years, 1970s Ice age in 10 years, 1980s Acid rain destroy all crops in 10 years, 1990s Ozone layer gone in 10 years, 2000- Ice caps gone in 10 years. Proving Climate change is a HOAX!

It's up to us people to teach others about the historical importance of a place. I live on occupied Washoe tribal land, yet Whites act like it was nothing before the mid-19th century. Untrue. The Washoe, Shoshone & Paiute people created & maintained a civilization here for thousands of years.

And they are all still here, living among everyone else; maybe invisible to many, but not to the educated. This is why 47 "loves the uneducated." So Orwellian too: "Ignorance is Strength", "Peace is War" & "Love is Hate." This describes MAGA perfectly.

Extremes unveil truth. Republican truths: war, pollution, corruption, genocide, extinction. No Party truths: cooperation, renewable energy, human rights, sustainable development, species conservation. Neither political party has campaigned for office with latter comprehensive peace building policy.

Impeachment and Epstein Files are crucial, but let's not ignore the systemic rot in some National Parks. Climate change info is just one part - how about addressing underfunding and mismanagement? Without sustainable park management, sign restoration is like painting over rust.

An even taller order: Someone needs to make sure trump and his underlings follow through on the judge’s orders. Trump has a decades-long history of non-compliance. On second thought the judge should have ordered trump himself, by himself, to restore all the signs and to be videoed while doing so.

Trump has tried again and again to whitewash our history, diminish the work of scientists, and use our National Parks and institutions as propaganda vehicles.   We’ll keep fighting this Administration’s attempt to erase history + science—and Trump’s ridiculous vanity projects—every step of the way.

And talk to your neighbors, relatives about specifics. If people like Trump, people have preferences, but speaking about clean air, clean water, access to education, books - and maybe using a brand new bridge to Canada, or airport lines or gas prices, food are soecifics

Good, although we really need to review how we teach American history and how we conquered the continent. Preferring to be as honest and plane language as possible. All of the pain and suffering on full display, how half the country seceded so they could to profit off of the suffering.

"Traditionalists" acting as though Indigenous peoples don't exist. Climate change deniers who think people will not notice the increasing frequency and severity of weather events: drought bringing fires and threatening water supplies for entire cities, flash floods, tornadoes... We notice.

I just sent an email to the media services at the Nat'l Park Service. Two sites here are publicizing programs as part of "Freedom 250." I want to know if that's true. And if they're using America250, the Congressionally-funded nonpartisan organization dedicated, in 2016, to plan them? CORRECT them.

And how about signs at Military Cemeteries? Here in the Netherlands there was quite a stink when information signs explaining the roles of black soldiers in our liberation were removed from Margraten cemetery. nos.nl/artikel/2590...

And how will this materially help land back initiatives and prevent oil companies from continuing to use western democracies to wage proxy wars for the owner class? Liberals love the aesthetics of resistance.

This pathetic southern attempt by confederates to rewrite history through the worst incompetent idiot president in U.S. history failed. But we are now justified is pulling down every confederate monument we can find with impunity. Your racist past is on display through republicans and Trump. 🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿
