Not just silent — some are actively embracing it: Ford commercials during the NBA playoffs are grotesque. "Which company builds the most cars in America - Ford does... In these exceptional times... That's no coincidence" Embracing fascist messaging: A longstanding Ford tradition indeed.

The cult of money that you’ve worshipped at for so long is showing its true colors, Scott. Did you seriously expect differently? They love money more than democracy. This is who they are.

Excellent read. "CEOs at the biggest companies agree — in private — that Trump’s policies are dangerous and stupid. In public, they cower. They keep their heads down and their knees bent, fearing retribution or hoping to profit." www.profgalloway.com/breaking-the...

profgalloway.comBreaking the Silence | No Mercy / No MaliceHello, Mr. President At different points, I’ve worked with 30 Fortune 100 CEOs. I believe 90% of them wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, and think, “Hello, Mr. President.” These are talented,...

Sadly this is one of the major tenets in the authoritarian playbook. Eliminate education, especially advanced education that teaches critical thinking. Intimidate anyone in positions of power in academia. Pol Pot killed off anyone with glasses. The Magats love the poorly educated

In some cases it may violate bribery laws. Many countries bribery laws are extra territorial so some companies may be putting themselves at risk of civil and/or criminal prosecution.

Hit the streets & ask tough questions, preferably answered with yes or no: “Is your milk & chicken safe?” “Have you or your parents received your Social Security this month?” “Do billionaires need a tax cut while Medicaid is cut?” “WHO HAS BEEN DISAPPEARED TODAY?” #NQNQ247

The universities have made the USA #1 in for a century in research and development, scientific and medical break throughs. Why does this #47 and his regime want the USA to cede that status while waiting on years to open more factories and plants for middle class employment?

I can't wait for Harvard to kick Trump's ass in court. They should sue him for damages. After all, Trump forced them to put a fund together to get back the funding in a contract. Breach of Contract, at the very least.

I'm afraid what's missing in this case, as in so many others, is the Democratic Party's leadership. They're so used to doing the bidding of big business that they (like you and I) are awaiting orders to take a stand. What's needed is leadership and collective action, and those skills are atrophied.

Everything else is a distraction! Trvmp broke the Constitution & ignores Judges’ orders! #MarchOnDC #RiseUpUSA #ShutDownDC #Resist Millions must go to DC now & stay until Trump & MAGAts breaking the Constitution are arrested! Military purge is underway - march now or be 1930’s Germany

Corporations should not run our communities!!!! Any politician continues to take corporate money now because dems can’t “unilaterally disarm” is missing something huge. Build a movement where you’re not courting donors. Be undeniably For the People. Shout down the lies and keep shouting.

The upcoming economic crisis — and the many manufactured crises they will try and distract us with — are going to radicalize even more people. They will go to where they think the power is. Let’s be ready with some powerful opposition and show them people power works. Greed will survive I promise.

Brilliant insights. Only thing that can stop fascism is Congress. The one influence on it, besides Trump, is the corporate donor class. The oligarchs need us. Top 10% of earners do 50% of spending. If we stop buying, sales drop 50%. Economic power is the only power we have left. Look at Target

Exactly! It’s disgraceful. They are responsible for more than ‘shareholder value’. They have a duty to humanity. Speak TF Up. History will judge.

Your country’s culture is sick. Tax cuts that feed the avarice of your business class is more important than your people. Their silence is literally on brand.

Thar’s profits in them thar people! Corporations aren’t people, corporations eat people and shit profit. Non-human corporations enslave humans millennia before AI was even conceived. We’ve put the wrong kind of “people” in charge and now expect some human/rational outcome? …good luck with that

Couldn't agree more. Also, where are the Democratic party leaders? Efforts here and there, but nothing appears to be coordinated. Democrats also need a strategic plan the way Republicans have Project 2025. Leadership vacuum on all levels.

We need to hit Amazon and Walmart and Apple etc like we hit Target Boycotting works !! I bought a new phone got rid of my Apple. Put up or shut up! Talk is cheap take action ! We can stop this sinking ship ! We have no king ! Fight like it’s 1775 or we will be 1930 Germany!

The time is nigh May 1st we Protest and Strike like it’s 1775 but peacefully ! Because if we don’t then we will end up like 1930 Germany! We have no king! and due process is a thing! If our Congress won’t take action we will! Talk is cheap take action! May 1st!

This is not your fathers Christianity and it’s not your fathers Capitalism. At Wharton in the 80s! we were schooled in “stakeholder value” not limited to shareholder value. Employees, neighborhood, investing in long-term futures. Change drivers: executive comp, short term “gambling“ trading, and…

And surprisingly, loss of “place” multinationals aren’t “located“ anywhere. The CEO doesn’t run into the community at the country club or the PTA. Janitors got pensions, JNJ rehabilitated New Brunswick. More soft guard rails.

Exactly right. These rich guys are rich chiefly because of stock options. With the Dow tanking they can’t be that happy. Reducing regulation is nice but doesn’t offset increasing costs 100%. If we the consumer hit them in their wallet, they will have to pay attention and respond

I have said this before, but I think it bears repeating. Don't companies have a fiduciary duty to speak out against tariff policies because of its reduction to shareholder value? If one of the main goals is to protect shareholder value, I do wonder why more companies have not been outspoken about it

I am sick of business leaders and Republicans thinking that the "understand" the Economy. They have been told by decades that "a strong middle class is what made America great." Which, whether you want to believe Democratic talking points or not is irrelevant, but mathematically, 1000 people cannot

make decisions of 340 million without a North Korean-style economy and political system. 1000 people cannot determine, how, when, where to make purchases, or work, at what price etc. We either have a free market, where people spend or not. They will quickly bring every industry down, one by one

Scared of anything that impacts their money. They probably think their silence insulates them from Trump coming after them - Huge mistake. Unfortunately, business schools don’t teach “values” and “integrity” ie standing up for what’s right even if it runs counter to the interests of shareholders

He can't stop himself from tariff-gaming everything to death, however. He's at the point, apparently, where he pretends to America that "China talks" are happening, when China itself has resolved to keep a stiff upper lip and wait till American pushback comes on the monster.

This is a good reason to start to support small businesses and stay away from fortune five hundreds ones. They exploit their workers, they take their manufacturing jobs out of America to have cheaper labour, they cause environmental damage, etc.

I would love to see a movement start where we systematically built small businesses and grew them into big businesses with ethical tenets. Choosing them over corporation greed, gave ppl power to oust these conglomerates, and one at a time neutralize every predatory portfolio. A concerted drive.

Donald is desperate! "I wish people understood the tariffs. We will give a tax cut, maybe a total tax cut. But it will take a while". The man is a total and utter grifter. It's unbelievable that 40% of Americans still like what he's doing as their Commander in Chief.

Shareholders take heed ~ Executives, check your greed… it won’t be forgotten. Currently voting NO on all executive compensation. Executive compensation should be a reasonable multiple of average worker pay. Make it so❗️

Business management education is entirely instrumental. The schools bolt on a business ethics course, which everyone knows is just window dressing. The overall focus is "how can I cope?", not "should I go along with this?"

Scott, you thought that American Business had ethical standards? NOTHING gets in the way of GREED and PROFITS. Certainly not taking an "ethical stance." The problem is that you have fallen for the "valorization" of business. This is exactly why we have the President we have.

Eh hm... Costco? Perhaps they aren't the enormous conglomerate you're speaking to but they get my life long brand loyalty (already had it, really) for their act of defiance against this corrupt pos regime. Good on you @Costco

It’s very discouraging that with how much American innovation is driven by federal research spending, industries and businesses are not speaking out against cuts to federal research and the threats to universities across the country.

Harvard is teaching us all a valuable lesson that we need to heed. The way to deal with a bully like Trump is to stand your ground and resist the pressure he is exerting. If enough people and institutions do this it will weaken his perceived power considerably.

They don’t take the time to really learn what’s going on with Trump and MAGA Republicans. They all think that we just have to “get over” the tariffs and “get over” the tax cuts for billionaires. They don’t understand that Trump is controlled by revenge and Putin, not smart business decisions.

They are preparing to buy up small to medium-sized businesses once the interest rates drop. They make more money during recessions because they can weather the financial hardships, whereas small and medium businesses will either close, sell, or lay off employees.
