This isn't about religious freedom, your religion does not give you a free pass to commit crimes (and medical neglect of a child is very much a crime).

Some people are allowed to follow their religion while others are forced to follow someone else’s religion! Who makes up these rules?

Does this sound plausible: a new wife who claims to be a devout Christian wants to get rid of pre-teen kids from a prior marriage so she convinces her husband to move to Idaho. In say six months after moving there the kids all die of curable diseases. Has their faith made them untouchable?
