AI Data Centers are totally unnecessary. Well, actually AI is unnecessary and a huge issue. And if they don't regulate it, it'll get even worse. I want acceptable hardware prices, not this AI garbage.
I could see that. If Sony hadnt gutted most of their smaller studios thered at least be some justification in the console, but now its either exclusivity of overblown projects hurting sales or cross platform releases devaluing any reason to not just buy it on PC.
Remember when the PS3’s price made Sony the laughingstock of the gaming industry for the entire first half of the seventh console generation?
Because apparently Sony doesn’t.
I knew ONE guy who had one. He was a spoiled rich kid that no one liked, but my friends and I went over to his house to see the Neo Geo and play Samurai Showdown.
We left thinking it wasn't any better than a Sega Genesis, so we never went back to his house.
And that was only because the Neo Geo was literally 60% of an arcade cabinet that you could actually own in your house when the competition was the NES and pre-Sonic SEGA Genesis. What's the PS6 going to do any different from a PS5?
Especially with game prices going up.
I just figured the Neo Geo was a good analogy of prices being a console's kryptonite. They're eliminating every advantage consoles have over PC.
Also, in 1990 disposable income was a lot easier to come by. Im not able to pull together even $650 that isnt going to bills or groceries or healthcare.
Come Play our proprietary games that you don't actually own on a system that costs as much as a high end computer but comes with no display and less storage.
That $960 component cost figure traces to leaker Kepler_L2 — up $200 from his estimate 3 months ago, driven mostly by AI-fueled RAM/SSD price hikes, not a confirmed Sony price.
PS6 has one simple message for anyone paying attention. Sony has all but said the exact words: You will own nothing and you will be happy with it.
No physical discs. Just downloads, digital titles. So screw Sony and their greed. Also screw AI data centers for being useless garbage.
Can’t wait to see how this will hardly be an actual upgrade from the PS5. I’m sure it will be filled to the brim with AI crap. And games will cost over $100 which you doesn’t mean you actually own them just a license to a copy of it. Hard pass.
I feel like the advertising slogan “Rent this game for $150” is more likely to deter people from buying a PS6 than anything else, but having to fork out $1,000 for the privilege of renting games for $150 isn’t likely to encourage folks.
