The work environment being so horrible that staying away from their hellish offices seemed like a worthy reward for backstabbing their peers eeek

They've probably been doing it for the love of the game. The game in question not being GTA6, but "doing what's right" in their fucked up capitalism serf larp.

So its a panopticon that wants you broken upon the wheel and it comes with the guarantee that regardless of if the game is a success or a failure that the company is going to fire you to boost end of year numbers? …And people /want/ to work there?

Trade union membership is a protected characteristic like religious belief in the United Kingdom. This could be a serious breach of UK GDPR.

Like it's unconscionable either way but if you got offered significant rewards at least there's a faint moral dilemma you could argue for your moustache-twirling evil. This level of betrayal for a single hour of time off is just embarrassingly pathetic on top of being evil.

I suppose that shows the correlation. Folks are willing to sell out for peanuts because they've been convinced this is the best they can ever get in the prisoner dilemma playing in their head.

This is like every time you look up what the Doomsday Device Company donated to Senator Moderate's campaign to convince them to feed their entire state's population into the Meatbag Grinder and it's $40,000

sounds more like they just booked the hour taken to scrape the discord as time off in lieu, so the mole didn’t even get a reward at all, they just didn’t want to do it on their own time because they value work/life balance, to an extent lmao

Consider wishlisting @streetsofrogue.bsky.social, the sequel (SoR2) going to be an open world, and have more rich interactions and emergent gameplay. The "realism" of the GTA games has always felt superficial to me: you can't crash into buildings whereas in SoR2 everything is destructible.

Taken off wishlist and stopped paying attention to the talk about the game until Rockstar gets slapped in the face in the trial. If they don't I won't.

This is, in one way, maybe worse than letting the staff go. Letting Union organisers go is evil, but it's basic self interest. Giving the moles who betrayed them 1 hour of time off for betraying themselves, their industry and their co-workers is possibly even more twisted.

If an employer can fire you with a paper trail that drags behind you forever, this should allow your coworkers to brand you. I'm not saying physically but I'm not not saying it.

Read the original story. HR sent an email with new Slack rules. Only employees in office can read email. An employee shared the new slack rules with other employees. It wasn't game related. RS then claimed employees shared "confidential info" and used it to fire all the folks organizing the union.

I hope those people realise what they've done when the crunch gets piled on because there are less bodies to do the work. Less bodies directly because of their actions that caused all those people to loose their jobs.

If I'm reading that article correctly, she probably didn't even get an hour off. I bet she spent her off-hours snitching and pretending to be a sympathetic ear, then just asked for comp time. I was looking forward to buying and playing this game, but if true, they're on my Do Not Support list.
