Just to be clear... Prop 40 is a ONE-TIME retroactive tax. It applies ONLY to billionaires and would tax just 5% of their wealth — which grew 30% in 2025. California's billionaires would still be worth $2T+ AFTER the tax. The revenue will fund healthcare for millions of Californians. Vote YES.

This man is being paid with the promise of saving his familiars by selling you into mass murder. They have your stupid ass surrounded. They have us now. They are full force now. They are here for blood, not power.

If it is a retroactive tax then isn't it a ex post facto law which is explicitly prohibited by the us constitution? I'm in favor of taxing the billionaires but that sets off the facially-unconstitutional alarm

✅ Government, and CA government in particular, cannot be trusted to spend tax payers $. ✅ If anyone believes it's a one time tax they're a moron. ✅ CA has plenty of $ for healthcare. They simply need to end massive waste, fraud and abuse, and stopping proving free healthcare to mass migrants.

The tax, a ONE TIME RETROACTIVE TAX they would have to pay is ONLY 5%. Billionaires currently do not pay tax, they use every trick in the book to avoid contributing to America's economy, sustainability or future. They are dedicated to increasing their own wealth to to detriment of others.

The ultimate software patch for wealth inequality: a one-time retroactive update to the tax code. Let’s see if the billionaires’ lawyers can find a loophole in the legacy hardware.

I see so many people defending the billionaires and all I can think is, why? I can guarantee they aren't billionaires. Maybe bots or paid commentors. We used to tax harder and they were still stupid rich. Stop voting against yourself people. Have you learned nothing from MAGA?

A one-state proposition is really just a move-out-of-California proposition. Haven't some billionaires already left? No way this will be a one-time thing. This will be re-litigated every single election, just like all those dialysis center propositions that went on for years.

Have you noticed...here's a Prop that both REPUBLIKLAN AND DIMOCRAT BILLIONAIRES can join in OPPOSING... (so, you see, when it comes to hard cash...Democrats are just as greedy evil as REPUPKLANS)... HYPOCRISY...thy stench has NO party limits!)

Newsom has hung around billionaires for decades. I remember him hanging with the Getty family long before he ran for local office here in San Francisco. Newsom's father was lawyer for them or something. He needs their money to run for president.

DAMN! Health care shouldn’t be so expensive AND “communities” (families, tribes, cities, states) have a role to play in wellness. Easy to say “that person can afford to pay for us.” Great until the logic is turned on yourself. The fundamental problem isn’t solved. A sustainable solution is needed.

Their wealth grew 30% and a one-time 5% tax has them acting like they're being robbed. If that math breaks you, you were never good at being rich. Vote YES.

They want us all to be their slaves, wage or otherwise. They won't settle for anything. Wealth Cap! $100M maximum, with 100% tax on all assets above. Got 100M? You win capitalism! You get to retire and/or work on your altruism. This is a first step.

For something so important, I can’t believe they designed such a terrible unworkable policy. Our CA budget is already so restricted and do we tear down programs after setting them up once the $ runs out? Focus needs to be nat’l.

The billionaire club will say “This will be the first step…” If they ACTUALLY GAVE JUST “ONE SHIT” they would…on an individual basis…be funding MULTIPLE PUBLIC SERVICE PROGRAMS vs buying “one more yacht”… They’ll bail on CA yet still manage to find subterfuges to continue “visiting” Cali places

Prop 40 Wealth Tax voting decision Flowchart: 1) are you a billionaire? NO-- vote Yes in your own self interest, YES--vote Yes to lessen the hatred of your socio-economic class, to be a good human being, and stay very wealthy anyways

And this isn’t nearly enough. Time to go back to the 90% tax we had before Reagan. That’s when the country started swirling down the drain.

Reich is a LIAR. Wealth Tax is unconstitutional, the gain has not been recognized, but that does not stop Leftists, they will tax anything, then WASTE the MONEY, and call people who want accountability RACISTS! Try this, before you want increased taxes get rid of all the Somali Fraud.

Reich wants more money turned over to the government so they can BUY CONTROL and BUY Votes. When has the Government ever had a tax, claimed it was temporary and left it that way. Remember Income Taxes, Gas Taxes, Real Estate Taxes. None were designed to grow into the behemoths they have become.

I did. And any Californians on this-write, call or text your House rep to get out and endorse it. Ro Khanna is the only one standing up to the oligarchs in the greater bay area. From my rep, Jimmy Panetta?! Crickets, grrrr. Also, same with our 2 senators. Our gov is selling us out to his $$bros

I did vote for it, but was disappointed at how weak a measure it actually is. We need to go back to the marginal tax rates of the 1950s and 1960s.

I would also like to say that all those tech Bros made all those billion dollars in California yet still don’t wanna pay tax. Of course now you got them scared little pussies running away like Peter THEIL running to Argentina because he’s scared I don’t know which one I hate more musk or him.Theil

I keep getting text messages and advertisements that want people to vote no and they use old people so I’ve already decided I’m voting yes but there are many other vague issues that I don’t know how to vote, but I will spend the day tomorrow reading all of California’s propositions

And to be completely clear - you MUST vote NO on 41 and 42, which will kill 40, even if it passes if either of them pass. Those other two were DESIGNED to kill 40.

So the 5% is on their current wealth, not their annual income? Oh, I love it! But the number everyone should be focusing on is the 95% left over, because the 95% they get to keep is multitudinous times more than the income left after 100% of non-billionaires have paid their taxes.

Why does this plan that purports to go after the rich look a lot more like a blow job for the rich? Lack of ambition isn't worth a cent. They should pay what they owe on 100% of their income, nothing less.
