Those Bosch dishwashers really are the best tho. Their notifications and emails trying to sell you on the extended warranty and such however are too much.

Why don't you want the notifications you need Nilay? Don't you want to keep your appliance in shipshape??

Bosch has been sending these thirsty notifs and I can’t figure out why

Possibly: 1) Wants you to open the app to collect telemetry data, 2) Someone’s KPI is time in app, daily active users, etc.

Imagine if it had been a personal massager

For me the main utility for this is being able to match it up to time of use electricity pricing (right now my electricity is 3x cheaper than it is the rest of the day), and/or monitor how long is left.

The awkward moment when you realise the company that makes your dishwasher is tracking MAUs.

this is why I turn off notifications for so many apps… Don’t send me a notification unless it’s crucial to the functioning!
