Discworld QOTD, from The Last Continent “I THINK PERHAPS YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. PEOPLE’S WHOLE LIVES DO PASS IN FRONT OF THEIR EYES BEFORE THEY DIE. THE PROCESS IS CALLED “LIVING.” WOULD YOU LIKE A PRAWN?”

Reminds me of Willikins at the Koom Valley city defense re AE Pessimal: “ then I’m afraid sir will have to go back and try again” “Bring born is the traditional first step.“

yes, he likes to point this out "Mr Tulip raised a trembling hand. 'Is this the bit where my whole life passes in front of my eyes?' he said. NO, THAT WAS THE BIT JUST NOW. 'Which bit?' THE BIT, said Death, BETWEEN YOUR BEING BORN AND YOUR DYING."

I love Death's genial bafflement at how everyone else approaches the prospect of dying it's pretty straightforward to him, after all at least, unless it involves Rincewind

Enjoyed the joke that Death is generally not familiar with funerary and burial customs as, outside of very tragic circumstances, little of his work is conducted around them.
