Same happened to a friend of mine. He was reluctant but his father who also has moderate Alzheimer’s is superhappy with being “waited on” several times a day and having company all the time

I had to be the person to explain to my Dad his dementia had become so bad he would need to go away for a while and then drive him on a stormy November night to a place to assess him that was like a prison. Nothing has ever felt worse than that. You’ve done a horrible but good thing. Stay strong.

I looked after my dad with dementia,eventually he was a danger to himself ..got lost,flooded the house after leaving a tap on ,set the kitchen on fire after putting the cooker on and forgetting.We had to put him in a home ..its not a easy decision but its the right one ..sending big hugs to you !

Life is like a marathon and often the last mile is the hardest. My mum is 93 now and been in care home for almost a year now. She gets well looked after. I share your sadness of a not nice situation.
