Everyone recommends Wispr and Superwhisper, but lately I’ve been using handy.computer It has everything I want: - 100% free, open source, & cross-platform - Fully local-first: works offline / no audio sent to the cloud - Supports custom words

Yeah, I came across open-wispr while looking at available dictation tools. Didn’t try it since it’s Mac-only, but if they ever support other platforms I’d definitely check it out. I wanted something I could recommend to all my friends regardless of platform :)

That's fair, I tried Handy on my Fedora laptop, at the time with AppImage version, and the mic didn't work out of the box, and it wasn't so important to me, so I simply gave up then. I should try this again, now with the RPM version :)

lmk if you try it out! Curious to hear if you think there's anything missing from Handy that you feel are must-haves
