It is a spiral, not a circle. Software development, even without the current form of AI, will never return to its previous state.

I love this framing, but in reality we treat developers of our internal platforms like users, and not customers, because most enterprise developers cannot behave as customers, and are forced to use whatever the platform engineering team gives them.

Your developers aren't users of the platform. They're customers. @danielbryantuk.com explains why platform engineering needs a product mindset—and why APIs, automation, abstractions, and composability matter more than simply adding more tools. Watch: youtu.be/ROBX-P7q1d8?...

v1.1 is planned for September, ahead of KanDDDinsky in October. New entries, more essays, and further updates to the theoretical framework. The series keeps going, and so will the book. www.organisationaldysfunctions.com #OpenSystemsTheory #SocioTechnical #OrgDesign

organisationaldysfunctions.comOrganisational DysfunctionsA catalogue of organisational dysfunctions explained through Open Systems Theory. For everyone who has felt the friction of broken structures but lacked the language for it.

I have just finished the read and can only say that this is relevant to anyone working in Tech nowadays. Strongly recommended!

An excellent showcase of how great testing tools and good testing looks like in practice!

Last year I gave a talk about some of the testing apis I built into Lustre. If you’ve ever wished there was something better than waiting 30 minutes for playwright test to run in CI… this one’s for you 🤙 youtu.be/k2F-REDMVcM?...

Most 'transformation' fails because it tries to change behaviour without changing constraints. People aren’t resisting; the system is working exactly as designed.

You can vibe code your way to a working prototype. You cannot vibe code or one-shot your way to a competitive product that works at scale. The hard part isn't writing code; it's the architectural supervision.

Focusing on the Rust Unwrap in the CloudFlare outage is really the scalability equivalent of "When a sage points to the moon, all the fool sees is the finger". At that scale, failures *will* happen. Programming error are unavoidable. What's interesting is why it took down the entire system.
