A big difference is that Republican's primary issue, cutting taxes for billionaires, is even more unpopular than their 40-60 issues; so they benefit from fighting on those unpopular issues.

It's utterly baffling to me they don't seem to think they can also shape opinion? Like it just doesn't seem to be a tool they consider at all.

I would argue Dems give up when they’re on the RIGHT side of a 60-40 issue. They give up for fun all day.

They'll fight for the 40% side of a 60-40 issue if it's the conservative side.
