I may be making too much of one data point and that’s fair, but I do think DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE making the GDP of Guyana was a crystallizing moment for the Marvels and Lucasfilms about where the money was and how to get butts in seats, for better and for worse

Granted NO WAY HOME made even more money, but that was late 2021, and there was still faith in things like streaming and throwing things against the wall to see what stuck. By 2024 there was a real crisis of confidence about what if anything actually worked and then they got *an* answer
