I thought this might be a reboot or sequel or prequel to another famous movie involving wicker, but this was much better.

"Remake The Wicker Man, but make it sexy"

I can tell you from being around him in person, this kind of movie fits him like a glove. He does have a wonderful dry, off-kilter sense of humor.

I read the short story this was based on, but have no idea where I saw it.

There was an undertone of audience-winking almost 1970s "naughtiness" which could get very grating

My wife said he just keeps playing autism.

My wife asked what I was watching. When I said the name, she replied "Oh yes, heard about that, apparently the internet is saying it's like Hot Frosty for people who think they're cerebral." Which helped me not at all, having never heard of Hot Frosty.

I assumed a The Wicker Man remake, and while the name would have worked, it was not that. This looks like a hoot, though.
