I don’t get why Anthropic hasn’t used Claude Code to rewrite their bloated Electron app as native. Should be much easier than a C compiler.

At least since writing software becomes sooo much easier, even in languages/frameworks you don't know, companies will finally build desktop & mobile apps in native toolkits like AppKit, GTK, UIKit instead of Electron & RN, since it's super easy to generate for 3 platforms separately, right? Right?…

The Windows app is an Electron/WebView2 (not sure) wrapper around the website lolsob

They’re both equally jank imho. Different categories of bugs but… ChatGPT app showed UI elements upside down (!), layout completely corrupted, crashed.. Codex is fine, just slow on long threads / big diffs, and for some reason CANNOT keep scrolled at the bottom. UI is hard :(

The upside down thing was likely a macOS 26 bug. Happened in one of my apps too.

Ugh, the app is awful. Parts of the UI used to not work, I preferred going to Claude on Safari and hitting Save to Dock.

Probably you’re just shitposting. But like other companies that do this it would be something like; hmm we don’t have any Mac and Windows developers, but we do have these guys that make the website, let’s ask them how we should do the desktop apps..
