I think we all love the reduced boilerplate we get from being able to assign a value directly from a switch while assigning it directly to a value. But sometimes one clause creeps in that needs more logic. With many cases, adding return anywhere is laborious and also unnecessary: #swift #xcode

The era of foldable phones is like the era of curved 3D TV’s. Never wanted one of those, but my 4K OLED HDR TV from that era is still current in specs. Thank god I don’t feel like upgrading to the latest and greatest for a while! Killer features that would trigger me to buy a new one:

- dead silence EXCEPT when somebody calls me or I start music or a video on purpose….i hate the sound of a new tab even - iPhone mini format - cameras flush with back. Perhaps they can pad it with extra battery? - better integration with Claude Code, codex, etc

I’m so glad I was a developer in the unprofessional early web days. Releasing an update meant dragging files through FTP, folder by folder One day a guy showed me how to prepare a zip file with all changed files in the right folder to unzip at target at once I was blown away by his professionalism

We did a website that handled millions of sales per day, 4 nerds in a room. Later we got acquired by a company that had all stuff in place, pipelines “real” programming language and whatnot. They had 25% of our sales with 4x the amount of people.

Alignment guides are a powerful but often underused part of SwiftUI's layout system. They let us describe relationships between views using meaningful points in their content, without frame measurements or fixed offsets. I wrote a post explaining them in detail: nilcoalescing.com/blog/Alignme...

nilcoalescing.comAlignment guides in SwiftUILearn how alignment guides position views in SwiftUI, how to override a built-in guide, and how to define a custom alignment for views in nested containers.

The shaman of Bad Dürrenberg are the remains of a 25-35 year old woman, who was buried 8600 to 9000 year ago in Germany. Around her, were the remains of an extraordinary head-dress, made from the bones and teeth of different animals such as deer, wild boar, crane and turtle.

Apple now says: don't split large SwiftUI views with computed properties or @ViewBuilder helpers if you want real performance wins. A computed property still lives inside the parent body. Same boundary. Same re-evaluation. #swiftlang #iosdev #swiftui emredegirmenci.substack.com/p/splitting-...

I always do this, never leave me guessing.

Replacing Bool parameters with two-case enums turns cryptic calls like stopAnimation(false) into self-documenting code like stopAnimation(.performingFinalActions). It's a small change that makes a surprising difference to readability. www.hackingwithswift.com/articles/172...

Control Center tells you an app is using your mic right now. Not which mic, not what used it a minute ago, not for how long. Capture Inspector does: every app per mic, with the process, PID and timing, live and recently used.

A surge in pedestrian deaths in the U.S. has baffled researchers for years. A New York Times analysis estimates that about 10% of the increase in pedestrian fatalities in recent years was caused by the growth in vehicle sizes since 2002. Here’s why.

I just heard a recent hire at Uber got fired again after they needed more money because they blew their 2026 token budget in April. What a fucked up time we live in. The guy they hired and fired is what people refer to as a 10x developer. No way a bunch of tokens could replace that.

Apple updated its Human Interface Guidelines for Sheets on March 24, 2026 to add guidance for button placement in the toolbar. "In iOS & iPadOS, the Cancel button belongs on the leading edge of the top toolbar." Time to update my apps 🙂 Documentation: developer.apple.com/design/human...

Is it just me or is the Claude Code agent teams feature barely even usable as an alpha? Only the latest version was stable enough to not hang on a permission dialog from member to lead, and I could not pass any allowedTools into specific agents. Maybe it works in YOLO mode, but mot for my workflow

How Mitchell Hashimoto (creator of Ghostty, founder of HashiCorp) got good at using AI tools for coding + work: "I was forcing myself to figure out how to prompt the agent to produce the same quality result as mine. Even though I was working much slower because it was more than double the work."

Before I described the agentic tool revolution as “the next internet moment”, because it makes the cost of entry so much lower for disrupters. But now I’m leaning towards that it’s the next “BASIC for microcomputers” moment, where a lot of “hobbyists” are able to release usable programs.

Today I wrote an app I've been dreaming about for stage managers, but never had the month I estimated it would take to build it. I did it in 6 hours. That 6 hours also included making my kids breakfast, driving them to school, chatting with an artist at the theater.

"The blood was only ever a means to an end," the vampire confessed in the interview. "To what end?" the reporter asked. "Blood carries vigor, life force, vital energy. That's what we feed on." "So how do you get it, if not through blood?" "These days, we make doom scrolling apps to drain it."

Anthropic has bundled Claude Code features into a more user-friendly interface called Cowork. Looks good. Requires a Max subscription (💰) for now so I can’t try it. Pretty good name, though not as good as Copilot and Codex. Still, I like where Anthropic is going with this.

Interesting post, I'm trying Codex currently to see if it helps. Often I just want Claude to build something and then walk away to do something else, only to discover that it got stuck 10 seconds in.

Joe Fabisevich@mergesort.me

Do you prefer Claude Code to Codex? Or maybe it's the other way around. I wrote a blog post that doesn't aim to debate which one is best, but offers a hypothesis for why people seem to gravitate towards one or the other. (Spoiler alert: I offer no theories about people who prefer Gemini.)

This bit from the Amanda Askell interview is interesting. In my recollection, most people on Twitter (in my bubble at least) were really positive and excited about Claude 3. The only negative narratives about Claude I remember seeing came from Anthropic itself.

Would love to get me one of those, but I already have a bunch of originals in storage and a RetroPie. I can't imagine going for the translucent ones, the full sized beige / khaki / brown one really helps bringing back the feel of the original.
