In Star Tribune Opinion’s new series, Minnesota writers make affirmative closing arguments for their choices in high-profile races. The goal is to give voters thoughtful perspectives to consider as they make their decisions.

"Tafoya would be a great legislator"???? She hasn't served one second in public office. I might be great heart surgeon, but no one is giving me a bone saw to go at someone's sternum.

Allow me to fix this article for you: We couldn't find a staff columnist willing to put their name on a Tafoya recommendation. We considered outsourcing the article but the best we could find was a long time republican state rep and we acknowledge that not to be a trustworthy source. The End.

Lmao a moderate compared to what? An “only some people should be in concentration camps” moderate? An “only some women should die of childbirth complications” moderate? An “I will vote the way the current fascist administration wants me to vote, 100% of the time” moderate?

The constraints of the platform make it impossible for me to ask all the questions I have of this piece. The only way Tafoya is a moderate is in a world where the binary is “cynical opportunist” and “fascist true-believer.” That’s not the world we’re in, and we can avoid it if we elect Flanagan.
