Isn't it funny that people talk about what a disappointment their children are and/or diown them when they do not grow up into what their parents want them to be. We never stop to think how disappointing the parents are to their children. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don't have kids and won't have kids because I don't like children. However, if you're a young adult who needs advice or a different perspective on a genuine issue, I'll help whoever for whatever reason. If any of your parents "disowned" you because of your sexuality, it's not your fault. It's them

Childhood to high school friend, she married a male, birthed a daughter who realized she was lesbian about age 13. In college she came out to father, mother knew. The one thing I've learned being a parent - you have both a huge influence on who your child will become and very little control over who they are. You can't do anything about genetics. You can provide them with experiences, opportunities, and worldviews that will shape them. It is interesting.

Shouldn't it be "If you would reject a queer kid" though? I mean shouldn't a parent accept and care for their 'straight' kids too?

I maybe old fashioned but kids are not sexual so queer kids were the ones that have butterflies pinned inside little frames that they hang on their wall or a rat's head collection or Berbies hanging crucified upside down, you know the ones I mean, serial killers.

How's the sayingโ‰๏ธโœจ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฏ *Uniqueness is part of this universe *God makes no mistakes *God knew you when you were placed in your mother's womb โœจ๏ธAll the lives that come into fruition are purposed to the world to teach or to learn from.

Studies have shown the younger generation is having less sex than generations before them. Imagine how ridiculous it is when someone pins their entire identity on something that they aren't even DOING. Get a personality b/c at the end of the day, no one cares what genitalia you like to play with.

You donโ€™t get to choose your parents Parents donโ€™t have control over what traits their kids are born with Good parents and grandparents teach good values by example, nurture their kids to become the best version of themselves, with pride. Those kids grow up Developing mutual respect with them is love

My kid is a bit young for the talks but if he ever comes out, I hope it's to me first. I can't imagine a bigger indicator of my success as a parent than my child trusting me with something so personal. โค๏ธ

As a kid of parents who should not have been allowed to have kids I would argue that with a population of probably closer to to ten billion people, everyone wanting to have a kid needs to pass a couple tests first.

Truth. I have some friends with two sons, one cis, one gay. The proverbial "genetic roll of the dice" creates wondrous variety. You never know what you're going to get. THAT is reality. If you can't handle that then never have kids.

YES!!!! Unless you are willing to love your child unconditionally, donโ€™t have kids. Of course, thatโ€™s hard in states that are anti-woman, anti-family and pro-birth. But yeah. Donโ€™t have kids you canโ€™t love!

And as an adoptive parent, I will add that, whether you have kids, or become parents without "having kids", your kid may be queer. Love them and support them however they come to you.

My daughter told me yesterday she asked a girl to the dance. I just beamed at her and said โ€œwell, what are you going to wear?โ€ Her relief & happiness made my heart tender. She knows she has my support, but kids need reassurance.

That's great! I hated asking girls to a dance in school. I got it done but being goofy and awkward always made it that much more difficult. I also don't sweat when I'm nervous, I rain... ๐Ÿ˜

I think my sons are strait, but they could easy be gay or asexual, as my brothers daughters are, and I could not love them more, or less, because I love them with all my heart. ๐Ÿฅฐ

They face significantly more mental health challenges because religious extremists and cultists like yourself call them slurs, harass and sexually abuse them, and strip away their basic human rights.

That's very well said, but I would extend some more .. if you are not ready to let your kids be who they wants to be, reflect on yourself before making any, or be ready for life to kick you in the butt very hard !

I hope my son is straight. Its just an easier life. If he grows up not to be straight, I will love him the same. I just want him to be happy and be part of his life, no matter how he lives it. Most importantly Im teaching him to be a kind and caring man who accepts everyone in all forms.

Blue, yellow, black, white, green, gay straight, trans i love my kids, I dont care who they are, as long as they are functioning, responsible members of society who care and look after each other and respect other's..im proud of them. well as long as they aren't MAGA, thats just too far!!

It's similar to objecting to trans kids. Don't want any Trans kids, don't have kids! They are always the ones with a gay or Trans child!

Stop systematically sexually abusing them as well. Never had any sexual orientation confusion until the 3rd predator of my childhood raped me. After the 3rd different conservative evangelical man raped me I started believing it was me not them... They would tell me how pretty I was.. pretty..

I remember thinking boys are not suppose to be pretty.. boys are not suppose to have long platinum blond hair and bright blue eyes. We are not suppose to be so small and thin, have smooth tongues and huge eye lashes.. So at 16 instead of taking my art school scholarship I joined the military...

Doesn't matter who they love so long as they are happy, healthy, and kind. My daughter spent a bit of time trying to find herself. She first thought she was a lesbian so I bought her a flag for her room to show support, then she thought maybe she's trans so I bought a flag for that, and now shes ...

Somewhere between 11% and 40%, depending on region, of all homeless youth in the U.S. are because parents threw them out for being LGBTQ. It's the parents.

It's true. I lived in a LGBTQ homeless youth shelter in Los Angeles over a decade ago. Almost everyone there had been kicked out by religious families, so if anything the 40% figure is probably low.

And I have. Too many times. But that's kind of a wild take that parents should not be responsible for housing their children. I'm pro communism, so yes, communities need to house and feed everyone.

No doubt. But I think a large part of the parental rejection of trans kids is the parents' fear of what other people will say and think. That's why, for starters, those other people need to STFU. And the parents need to grow a spine and prioritize their kids over community ignorance and hate.

I had a friend, he was gay and was also a drag queen. His family rejected him,and googled the cure for "gayness".He ended up going missing for 2 weeks until his body was found hanging from a tree in the woods. His mom cried at his funeral and that made me so angry. She was one of the reasons he died

Parents who place greater importance on their image and social status rather than the happiness and wellbeing of their kid don't deserve to be parents. If friends or family don't like who my kid is then they aren't my friends or family and they can fuck right off.
