Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Exactly. These thieves waste millions daily but God forbid a poor kid gets a bag of chips and a soda...as if they get enough to spend much on snacks. Then they have the unmitigated gall to call themselves Christians.🤨 How cruel can you cold hearted bastards get?

I was thinking about this VERY thing as I worked in my lawn today! If WE all just stopped! Stopped producing, working, serving THEM…THEY WOULD not survive! We know how to struggle everyday…how do you PAY someone to struggle for you when EVERYONE HATES YOU???

So the billionaire can have 12 houses and a yacht because they earned it, but a poor person takes their 4 year old out for ice cream and people protest that they're wasting their money on non essentials. That's not how it works.

Why would anyone who has more $ than they could spend in 100 lifetimes want to help or make life better for mere mortals? Lol. I have nothing against making $. But I also believe if you have been fortunate you should help others where you can. Rich elites just don’t give a shit about others!

Wait until the air app is developed Just a few cents per breath. You’ll hardly notice your subscription fee. These things don’t come free. Globular progress comes at a price.

OUTF&CKINGSTANDING OBSERVATION ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️💯. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a critical nomination for “post of the night “ !!! Bravo, I salute the hell outta you madam 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫵🏾👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿👏🏻👍🏾 ( EDUCATIONAL/ ECONOMIC REALITY + BABIES NOT BOMBS !!! )

Indeed. But back to buying things that may not be essential…it’s actually folks with more money than they need that corner the market on that one!

It's pretty weird to me how poor people get judged for buying a can of beer but a rich person with a passive income from capital ownership will literally brag about spending $1000 on a bottle of bourbon or wine. It's absurd for anyone to assume people are poor because of their spending choices.

scottsantens.comWe Gave Homeless People Cash. They Bought Housing Not Drugs. The evidence from Vancouver to Denver is undeniable: When people in crisis receive money, substance use goes down, employment goes up, and homelessness ends. On any given night in the United States...

I don't think you can shame a rich person and, as their net value goes up, their capacity for being 'ashamed' of what they have goes down, to the point they say the most stupid, facile shit imaginable. We are talking a Marie Antoinette "Let them eat cake" kind of moment.

As someone who has been on SNAP Benefits, this is the only way to treat yourself. There is no money to go to a concert or a nice restaurant or even just go see a movie. Buying some chips and soda for a home movie night is not something anyone should get mad about.

Good idea! And if you have a local food pantry (mine is a latched box by the road, put in cookie or muffin mixes as well as staples. Just because you are poor you shouldn't be denied sweetness in your life.

Or shaming the rich for simply not paying their fair share, which would make almost NO difference to them, and would make an enormous positive impact on the other 90% of the US population: Medical care, food for children, education, infrastructure, support for elderly & disabled, science research...

the shaming gets outsourced to people who can't afford it. the people making profit off essentials don't get shamed—they get tax breaks, lobbying power, and board seats. the class performance is the point.

Rights, I believe. The key question is not what is essential, but to what do we have a RIGHT. Those should be non-profit. Consumers in markets can decide whether the rest is essential for them.

Like national forests? The only vacations my poor parents could take us on were to public lands where we could camp and cook for free. Now? Thanks to Greedy Old Pedophiles, a foreign company is gonna be able to mine the Boundary Waters...

This is so very true. People have said that the poor should not have iPhones, or go to McDonalds instead of buying economy foods like rice and hotdogs. These are working people, mostly, and occasional luxuries keep the donkeys plodding along.

Who makes the decision what is or is not essential to the poor? Regardless of your financial situation, you are entitled to spend money you earned on what you want.Who tf are you to tell me I can't save money I worked for to buy a designer purse, because I deserve it? Tell the rich no more yachts.

How dare the poor wallow in pleasure of eating an avocado when they could be slaving away, sorry I meant productively working. Super yachts don't pay for themselves, this is a team effort!

Such an important question and really the top economic question of our time. Let’s stop judging our fellow citizens and start judging the oligarchs of this country for the way we all are being used and abused by their control of our government!

While companies sell “ice cream” products that don’t melt even with a blow torch. But it’s the poor that cheat? Air in big old boxes that used to be heavier (shrinkflation). But it’s the poor that cheat?

Exactly. I'm a senior "surviving" on generic saltines. No groceries and facing being homeless. I guess people just don't understand what it's like. Until I ran out of napkins, I used to refold them so I could use one for 4 days. I can't even afford deodorant. And I'm tired of being judged!

I appreciate that but I have tried everything. The hardest thing for me is I have absolutely no transportation nor can I afford the $35 round trip taxi fare to go 3 miles where I live! It's all good until it isn't.

I want to add to that. A car that was given to me died in February of 2025 and I have no transportation to be able to get a job in this little town. There is one cabin they charge $35 round trip which sucks when most jobs here pay an average of $13 an hour! I wash my clothes in my kitchen sink!

Absolutely. People say they are okay with providing for the poor and then resent the fact that they get something off of some supposed approved list. iphones are the biggest complaint. A phone to someone in need is their lifeline. Privileged assholes, FUCK OFF.

My friend used to offer to buy the local unhoused a beer on his entry into the local store, and then give me a cigarette on the way out. I was so shocked, and I asked him why he would do so. He let me know that when you're in that position, the smallest joys bring the biggest change.

I think when you haven't got alot of money you can't do swanky expensive activities, so buy little treats instead to cheer yourself up. Thats what I've done in the past, think I'll go to the pub and have a drink with my mates, and eat beans on toast tomorrow.

The wealthy need to be shamed simply for their wealth, which is always & only a means to deprive others of future capacity to control their own lives.

It took me a few years in the convenience store industry to get that through my head. Sure, its food stamps, but I will be damned if I look down on a parent for buying their kid a candy bar on a snap card.

I like this. I'm nicking it. Unfortunately I won't be able to name check you due to middle aged man memory decline. Thinking about it, I will probably forget this whole thing, so yeah. Don't mind me...

I like a different approach, to focus less on shaming individuals, whether poor or wealthy, and more on improving systems. That includes fair wages, transparent pricing, competition, consumer protections, and policies that prevent abuse without discouraging growth.

And for how many homes they don't live in, cars they don't drive, airplanes they don't fly, and yachts they don't use. Seriously, how many of those "things" does one need?

I agree. Many people in my state don’t have the luxury of a food market nearby. I’m on a fixed income and I can’t give ad much ad used to to the food bank.

Maybe no more tax write offs of personal vehicles, boats, jets, travel, lodging, restaurant food, entertainment of any kind, or healthcare by anybody (or any corporation) with more than $million? Why are we giving free stuff to millionaires?

Who the fuxk decides what is ‘essential’? AI & cryptocurrencies are not essential but the very people making (on paper) money off them are telling the rest of the world what is essential and the minimum amount of money we’re allowed to have to buy essentials…are billionaires essential?

I agree Shaming people just because they have less is an abhorrent human failure. I don’t have a problem with companies making profits, I have a huge problem with corporations that only ever want more whilst demanding they should be able to do less for their workforce & environment.
