Rich people like Republicans in charge _occasionally_. They _know_ Dems build the economy. The just want an occasional Republican in charge to give them a chance to convert wealth into income in an advantageous situation. They build wealth during Dems and cash in during Republicans.

Now subtract every person (from trump's numbers) who died under tRump's 1st presidency where he suppressed the truth about covid. How many of those deaths were jobs/staff losses?

This. Democrats have always been excellent stewards of the economy and advancing the rights of folks and creating the social safety nets we all enjoy today and take for granted. The only safety net I can think of to credit to Republicans in maybe EMTALA.

The biggest scam they ever pulled off is convincing people that they’re even trying to be good for the economy. They’re not. They’re extracting max wealth. That’s it.

Personally I find / make my own jobs. I don't expect the president to do it for me. Its tuff right now for people that cant.

It's a study in propaganda how they've pulled that off over the decades. Throughout my life, the bad economies have been overseen by Republican presidents and the good ones by Democrats. How do people not notice this?

It's because Republicans measure the economy by the stock market. The rich are getting richer while the rest struggle with affordability.

Their white voters base isn't motivated by economics. "Economic anxiety" is a euphemism for racism.

Republicans are "good" for corporations participating in the economy. Not so much the workers.

For as far back as I can remember Republicans have only been good to and for themselves.

Especially given the fact that EVERY Repub president in history has had at least one recession hit while he was in office. ALL OF THEM. By contrast, 5 out of the last 6 Democratic presidents have had zero recessions hit while they were in office. Repub presidents = RECESSIONS

Maybe the Democrats can somehow convey this to the country.

My hope is, that the people going through this now, will remember and tell their kids, and they’ll tell their kids. With any luck the Democrats will have a good long run. Of course we’d still have to stay vigilante and elect the right people !

I'm pretty sure everyone knows Republicans are terrible for the economy. Democrats know it. Independents know it. Republicans known it. "The economy" is just a stand-in excuse for "I want to vote for people who will strip as many rights as possible from anyone who isn't straight, white, and male."

This is a one-sided picture. There are people (most) who have to work for their money, there are others (fewer), who let their money (and/or others) work for them. Not creating jobs befits the second group (fewer wages to pay, more profits made), so THEIR economy soars.

I dare you to look up which last Republican president had an improving deficit to gdp ratio, and which democrat had a declining ratio. The answer is Eisenhower and Carter. Conservatism are bad at the economy and fiscal management.

The last Republican with an improving deficit to gdp ratio was Eisenhower. The last Democrat with a decreasing deficit to gdp ratio was Carter (slight decrease) Republicans love being fiscally irresponsible.

And what made it possible? Media. As long there isnt popular media telling the truth, we fucked. In any country.

It's worth nothing that of all those Republican jobs created, nearly 1 million were recruited as ICE agents. (Okay, maybe not quite that many, but Trump's not done yet.)

The "economy" the GOP is good for is that of lining billionaires pockets - which includes killing jobs of working people (which allows CEO's and owners to have a bigger payday and increase the value of shares). Nothing about the "economy" that GOP focus on involves helping the working man.

Recession frequency or quarters in recession. Used to capture cyclical stress, with historical work finding fewer recession quarters under Democratic administrations.

Real income growth. Measures whether households’ purchasing power improved, and some studies find stronger gains under Democrats.

Stock market return. Another common KPI, with historical analyses often finding higher average S&P 500 returns under Democratic administrations.

That and supply side economics. Such a farce.

I can't quite believe that people actually fall for "Republicans are good for the economy". I think this is really a veiled way of saying, they promote egoism and reject social responsibility. When things are going badly, like 2008, people vote D. When things are mostly fine, like 2000, they vote R.

Not surprising that Republicans control the message when they have most of the billionaires using their money to ensure that Republicans control the message.

Republicans have a lot of help with their many "news" channels.

Republicans break it and hand the broken pieces to Democrats. Democrats fix it and hand it back to Republicans.
