Remember, factually rebutting what Trump claims misses the point. He will not be defeated by rebutting his lies. He will be defeated by mocking him (see: Factory, Cheesecake), forcing him to lose in court (thank you Marc Elias), voting Democrats in, and so forth.

"amplify your people" is 100% the best strategy

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

If you have some cash to spare, consider throwing it at the Democratic Senate and Governor's races in the states on this list. If the GOP is worried enough to send Trump to campaign there it means these offices are very gettable.

Key thing to note here is that this is for spam texts only. But a far higher percentage of raises go to ads. Sherrod Brown's raised $61.6M this cycle and spent 88% of that on TV ads alone.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

The fact that we've agreed to call these gambling sites "prediction markets" furthers their bullshit. They predict nothing and it's a disgrace that news orgs have partnered with them and pretend they have news value. THEY'RE JUST A BUNCHA LOSERS GAMBLING.

Jenny Cohn@jennycohn.bsky.social

How pathetic. This pro-Bolsonaro Brazilian official relied on the Thiel-backed prediction market (Polymarket) to suggest that Flavio Bolsonaro had won his debate against President Lulu (who just defeated Bolsonaro in the election.) Because Polymarjet is “real” info. 🙄 1/ x.com/delegadorama...

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

They did not announce they will block certification. They filed a lawsuit asking a judge to block certification if Peltola wins, reasoning that MAGA voters are too stupid to know the difference between two guys with similar names.

The Trump DOJ just announced they will block the certification of the Alaska Senate race if Mary Peltola wins. This is a 5-alarm fire. We must make this too big for Trump to rig.

They're throwing spaghetti at the wall. It doesn't mean it's not really dangerous - and whatever they try, we'll be prepared to counter - but folks should be clear that this is not some well-orchestrated highly competent plan unfurling.

The reason we keep hearing about desperate schemes to boost Republican chances in the midterms—Announce we're buying Russian diesel! Sue to preemptively reject a Democratic victory in Alaska!—is because they don't have a secret plan that will overturn a midterm loss, not because they do.

Oh my god, THIS.

It seems bad that one guy can account for a large percentage of total campaign dollars spent (about 1/5 of total expenditures as of October). On the other hand, while money is important, at some point you get diminishing returns.

As we approach the midterms, remember that the Alt National Park Service is a merch sales operation claiming without evidence to be a group of federal employees, and is not a genuine source of news about elections of any kind. Please get your election info from a local, reputable source.

Once again, there is absolutely nothing DOJ can do to halt certification of election results. Nothing. They can file lawsuits in the various states, but those lawsuits will fail. Most will be dismissed immediately.

Q: The typical practice is DOJ doesn't usually release charges this close to an election. Even though Ms Lucas isn't on the ballot, her daughter is. Can you speak to the timing? BLANCHE: The 60 day or 90 day practice is not in writing. That's not part of the justice manual. There's nothing improper

Guys, if they were going to cancel the midterms or seize ballots or somehow halt certification of elections Trump would be sitting on his ass in DC right now. I need fucking everyone on here to calm the fuck down.

Jen Bendery@jbendery.bsky.social

One week before the elections, Trump will be out there trying to give his party a boost in... Texas. The RNC just announced he'll be doing a rally next Tuesday in Corpus Christi, in addition to rallies in Waco and Lubbock.

Folks, this is the last gasp of an administration who knows they are going to lose and is trying to convince people they are all powerful so there's no point in voting. DOJ cant do jack shit to stop certification of elections, or to seize ballots, or anything they want you to think they can do.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

🚨🚨🚨 Q: Is there any scenario in which DOJ would try to block states from certifying the election? AG TODD BLANCHE: Yes, of course. It is not DOJ's intention to improperly interfere with elections or the state certification process, but ...

As has been said here often by many people who are much smarter than I am, it's not about convincing Republicans to vote for the Democrat. It's about getting Republicans so bummed out about their candidates that they stay home on election day.

Cool. What if you turn someone in and it turns out they committed no fraud? Do you have to compensate that person for their time and expense fighting the allegations?
