I support so many NDP policies ESPECIALLY social justice portions. But I'm so damned terrified of a national populist conservative gov - b/c look at what a populist conservative gov has done to AB! I WILL vote NDP in AB. Prairie social democrats are pragmatic/caring & the only alt to heinous Smith.

Mr. Lewis's comments so far make me think the US would look at us even more askance and see us as more of a threat than they do now. I favour some of what he espouses but think that now is not the right time. After PM Carney's work is done, perhaps.

what the fuck is this, someone sincerely identifying with the wrong side of a satircal article. Fear-based, apologetic (you are or should be embarrassed), and pro-Carney. People are saying there's never been a more libbed up post on here.

The Centrist liberal also known to be in favour of corrupt developers destroying the Greenbelt, encroaching upon Greenbelt so the rich can rich in their lipstick on pressboard McMansions or bust, whilst hoarding as much property as they can, making the Centrist unpopular with the rest of the animals

“Pretending to support poplar leftist policies on the campaign trail worked out well for the Liberals during the last election, so the NDP should try doing the opposite and pretend to support unpopular centrist policies….”

This would have been even more humorous if you had used the actual poll numbers. "These positions are political suicide, supported by only 30-40% of voters." (Wealth tax over $10M is supported by 78% of Canadians, according to a recent Leger poll)

I know this is satire, but one could argue that Lewis' LEAP Manifesto ensured that Notley had no chance to win 2019 election in Alberta. While Lewis is popular, his selection will hurt Prairie MPs who are centre left, not far left.

Of course the LEAP Manifesto wasn't the only reason, but it was a huge piece of propaganda against the NDP. The right used the LEAP Manifesto extensively to stoke fear and energize the RW base. Notley spent at least a year, if not longer, defending against it.

I think any platform of progressive ideas is going to get used to hammer us. We can’t stop just because of what they try to do.

And that was the mistake. She should have eagerly adopted it. Every time she accepted the Right's framing and criticised it, she was the one doing damage to her reelection, not the document itself.

Lol ya 100% what I saw. Why do they think their opinion is relevant or accurate to how someone who would consider voting for NDP would think. They are so off base.

So on point. The comments here, on Reddit, and so many other places are Liberals and Conservatives lecturing the NDP to be more like them. And I cant wait to read all the response to this article saying the exact same thing as the headline.

It's the same as all the former Republics on U.S. media constantly telling the Democrats to be less progressive so they can capture the moderate GOP voters while alienating the the heart, soul and future of their party.
