The masculine urge to stop you vehicle in the middle of a road, roll down your window, and chat with your buddy in his vehicle, completely blocking traffic for no good reason
Trying to explain Albertan separatism to Europeans like "The Resource Extraction Province wants to separate from the Resource Extraction Country because they believe the Resource Extraction Federal Governments are insufficiently supportive of resource extraction." and bring met with blank stares.
Without American wine on Canadian shelves, Canadians are also missing out on tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue they would obtain from selling our wine.
Every interview with an Alberta separatist is like:
"We're dead serious about this, it's not a bluff!"
[Two minutes later] "Well, we don't really want to leave Canada, we just want everyone to know we're very special and give us the extra special stuff that we want"
"Sell all my video games on ebay" is so funny, because all the annoying things about selling stuff online is not the computer part, is the packing them up and taking them to the post office part
The mainstream media is structurally hookwinked by any binary choice in politics - if there is a "yes" and a "no" option, they will sanewash both of them as equally valid, no matter how ridiculous
Saying this because CBC's coverage of the Alberta separatist referendum has been making me scream at the radio. You do not have to accept the framing of separatists who retreat into meta discourse about how good it is that we're all having a great conversation now
Economic stimulus idea for @markcarney: you can run the carbon capture machines on tar sand diesel generators and plug the exhaust of the diesel generators right into the air input of the CCS so we can maximize both diesel consumption and carbon capture, it's a perfect positive feedback loop
According to the International Energy Agency, total global investment in solar energy (including both rooftop solar and utility-scale projects) was less than half of this figure, despite our dire ecological situation
Global fuel subsidies may top $1 trillion this year — amid $100 crude, elevated borrowing costs and strained budgets.
“.. we don’t see a very clear pathway out of the three-pronged crisis,” he said.

I don't even understand where the "super intelligence" thing is coming from, is this just purely Trump's dementia brain, or is there something at stake here I don't see?
Feels like the first time I've wanted to watch a Leafs game out of legitimate curiosity in years - say what you will about Chayka but the man loves a trade
Being casually trying out non-google search engines. Kagi is good and I might pay for it. I don't understand the point of Qwant at all - there's no ways to customize anything that I can see
still reeling from this dream i had last night about Trump converting to Catholicism and we were at a Mass being led by the pope who was Leslie Nielsen in gladiator armor and Trump kept turning to me to express his concerns about the heretical nature of the Greek Orthodox Church
Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state.
A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface.
And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).
Realizing the extent to which this is true wildly changed my opinions about how to deal with Trumpism, since they're never going to be satisfied unless they're actively dominating everyone else. You can't give them some concessions and go back to the status quo: they're reactionary revolutionaries.

Trump: "We have hundreds of happy construction workers in DC busily doing their job building finest Ballroom/Military complex anywhere... It was a long, hard, fight in the Court System, but the winner is, as always under 'TRUMP,' the USA. Also, it is important to remember it is a 400 Million gift"
Underappreciated: US farmland *already substantially produces energy, not food*, and does so very inefficiently. Corn ethanol (~40% of all US corn) requires about 100 times more land per vehicle-mile driven than solar photovoltaics -> electric vehicles. Shifting corn to solar *would free up land*.
anytime people raise concerns about land use for solar projects or anything like that i just want to point out that half the corn we grow in this country gets used to make gasoline slightly worse
