And yet every time I bring it up, there are Americans in the comments aggressively asserting that they will never help with an effort like this, because bullshit reasons.

They're too busy leftist scapegoating like Kamala is.

"Harris is still blaming protesters." "[S]he still doesn't understand that genocide is a red line." "Mid-term elections are little more than a year away with many elected Democrats remaining out of step with constituents on Gaza." #USA #Gaza #Palestine #Israel #Genocide

Its obvious that there are 2 peoples here calling themselves americans. The irony, the least american of the 2 is the one waiving the flag around and thinks the constitution is only 2 ammendments and the 1st only applies to them. It wont be enough to get rid of their leader. We need a real solution.

I am lucky to be 53. I will die in poverty, but not under stupidity. If the rich keep going like this, the whole planet will be on fire. And that conspiracy of 750mln ppl will become a reality, supported by AI robots. And tbh: Not my planet. Seriously. Not worth living on.

Ok that’s a protest, I’m showing up to that. I’m talking about a General Strike, when are we starting that? I’m not asking what a General Strike is or when we reach some fabled 11 million number. We need something more concrete than just the idea of a plan.

Personally I think now is the time since the air traffic controllers who were overextended to begin with should walk out along with teachers and everyone else who can. This county would grind to a halt.

Europe has a much stronger labor movement and healthcare is not tied to their employment. Regan systematically destroyed Americans ability to effectively leverage the power of the strike. It’s a skill we must relearn.

Where are the wealthy Dems and Progressives needed to fund us organizing something like this? Maga had plenty to organize the un-American attack on our Capital. Where the Frig are they. We regular citizens don’t have the means….

A-listers in sports and entertainment—Clooney, Whoopi, Swift, Springsteen, Neil Young, HUNDREDS (even thousands) more. They have the money, and the time, the resources. And yet. They’re all busy jetting off to far-flung places instead of fighting like hell to resist. They piss me off.

My business was closed for 14 months during Covid and I’m still here. I’m ready to close again. Eff those selfish weenies. Same folks who can’t bother to mask when they’re sick or care about anyone but themselves. Everyone can afford to stop work for two days. Doesn’t anyone remember 2020?

We need to message how people in essential roles can take part. Fire fighters. Health care workers. Etc. This won’t work if we say let people die because nobody should work in an ER during a general strike. Americans don’t know how to do this.

The difference is in this country...many of us would be fired if we went on even a one day strike. We'd at least lose the income for that day. Many can NOT afford to lose a day's wages. Many of those FIRED for participating would lose their health insurance. The right makes SURE we can't strike.

A General Strike has now obviously become necessary. But I don’t know what has to happen to get Americans to give up their complacency. Whatever it is, I guess it hasn’t happened yet. Hard to believe. My grief is for the children.

Because most of the qualities taught by Jesus (kindness, forgiveness, healing and helping hands, "love thy neighbor") were used up before Americans came along, when greed and selfishness were just about all that was left. Netanyahu is an international war criminal.

We need to follow the lead of Italy, which is a known democratic country. We have the numbers, yet for some reason we don't go out and protest for Gaza, for our rights as women, and most importantly our democracy. If not us, who?

Simply, it seems Americans won't protest en masse or do anything of any great note because, seemingly, there's no money in it. See an atrocity taking place? Well, pull out your phone and film it for Instagram hits. ICE kidnapping your neighbours? Get your VLOG out as soon as you can(with ads).

Could it happen here? Not unless people rebuild the very structures of solidarity, unions, grassroots organizations, local assemblies, that were deliberately dismantled over decades. Otherwise, dissent is confined to fragmented protests while state and corporate power remain insulated

We absolutely do! This protest HAS to overwhelm the nation so Trump & his sycophantic #TrumpCrimeSyndicate KNOW & SEE that we are not messing around & we will not continue to take their absolute abuse of power! Peaceful of course, but THEY NEED TO BE SCARED OF US!

I'm so on board with a general strike. It's the only way the govt will be reminded that the power lies with the people and their purchasing power. If everyone committed to seeing eachother through the hardships of it, we could do it within a matter of days.

I’m beginning to more and more agree with this approach. Apparently the will of this regime is to crush 90% of the US population, create civil unrest and destroy our relations with the rest of the free world. Why not take the short sharp shock instead of the slow starvation?

I agree. We should be in the streets every single day. Not just once a month (if that). Our "protests" are feeling very performative atm (and ive been to all of them because it's all we officially have). Now that our government is shut down it's the perfect opportunity for a general strike. Come on

#1 thing to do: cancel your subscriptions. You can live w/out them. These technocrats got rich off of us & now they are paying a corrupt government to monitor us and take away our rights? Hell no. Buy a CD/DVD burner. Get stuff at the library. Get a flip phone. Stop using Starbucks, Amazon. And 🖕 AI

A one day general strike is possible. But it’s the people saying “strike until everything is fixed” that don’t understand that that’s not possible for most people, and especially the most vulnerable. We have to be organized and intentional about it.

The one day loss is to ensure longer term gain. And believe when I say it actually works. In the 1980s and 1990s it was one of our strongest weapons to bring down apartheid. We called it a stay away. Everything was closed down - work, schools, services with the active participation of the people.

Remember, you're asking this of the society that lost its mind during the shutdown. Hoarding toilet paper, crying about how they'll live without haircuts and colors, manicures, pedicures, Starbucks, restaurants, concerts and sporting events? Luxuries they deemed essential. Think they'll strike??

Lots of jobs don't get vacation, sick or pto time. Some jobs require vacation days to be approved and have a limit of how many can take it off. Granted you could just call off and may not get into trouble if you have a good attendance record. But states like here in Indiana you still can get fired

This is where everyone does their part to the point they are able to comes in. We know some people don't have leave, can't use it etc. If enough people to as much as they can over the same week it will make a dent. Combine it with a buy nothing week.

I'm with you, God. A general strike would be a powerful weapon against the fascist takeover underway in America today. Entirely possible, when workers realise their power. America has a fine tradition of workers fighting back. GeneralStrike25 would smash Project25 to pieces.

We are losing time allowing a fascist regime to distract by overwhelming us with all these serious issues. They do this purposely! KNOW ONE THING‼️ IF DEFEATED BY FASCISM NOTHING ELSE WILL MATTER‼️ United we stand Divided we fall‼️ OUR BACKS ARE UP AGAINST THE WALL‼️ BE THERE FOR DEMOCRACY‼️

We have a government that is simply not working for the American people. It's so dysfunctional it is shutdown and may never reopen. I hear people wondering how long it will be shutdown. I laughed when I heard that. Republicans control this. Our government may never reopen. Never. #GeneralStrike2025

I have led multi thousand person protests in my city. And I am the first to say that protests alone don’t get us anywhere. We need a mass general strike by the Americans. But they are too cowardly and coddled to do that which is why they have lost their democracy.

I desperately want to get out there and protest. But I'm a full-time caregiver for my husband and can't take the chance of getting arrested. I find it so frustrating!

A general strike isn't enough! We need massive sustained boycotts of corporations, especially the cable conglomerate oligarchs do not give, shift your consumption to local businesses for stronger state taxes to fight mega fascism
