Both of you are wrong (but the first guy especially) - Erasmus students don't pay their universities anything extra, and usually get a university Erasmus stipend instead. The whole scheme is basically "students are in a foreign country as guests" - you can't exactly charge guests money.

How am I wrong, though? What I said is absolutely factual. In bilateral exchanges, students pay their home university fees, so foreign students won't bring in higher fees. The money they get as Erasmus grants to help fund their mobility is a separate issue from fees.

Starmer said: “we do need to get closer” to the EU, arguing that people would “have to be grownup” about this and to accept that it would require “trade-offs”. Should have been “grownup” in 2015. Sadly Britain in diapers for the foreseeable future.

It just needs someone with balls to request to rejoin. My personal opinion is they would allow us to rejoin, and that Farage and his chums wouldn't influence that decision.

Are you mad? Next election they'll put Farage in charge. They need a complete system overhaul first, and frankly so does the EU, before we can risk having another saboteur member. Especially one that's proven to create so much trouble already.

If Farage (or someone like him) is in charge, they won't join. So I'm just hoping for that, at some point in the future, they will elect someone that wants to re-join.

We can't doing that nonsense back and forth based on hopes and prayers. They need systemic changes that doesn't leave such blatant risks open in the future due to a completely dysfunctional electoral and legal system.

Hooray and the Nasty Tories @kemibadenochmp.bsky.social whinge that it’s getting rid of BREXIT by stealth. But the lying shambles of Tory Brexit is laid clear to sane people excluding the little englander, Brexit, minded nutters, who are happy to wipe billions off GDP because of warped ideology !
