Semiotic Standard icons designed by Ron Cobb for the USCSS Nostromo in Alien (1979). They're everywhere in the USCSS Maginot from Alien Earth (2025).

Gonna shamelessly plug the YouTube channel CinemaTyler, who has done a lot of great videos breaking down the prop creation, photography, set design, production, etc of iconic films like Alien Can’t recommend it enough if you’re a geek for movie detail stuff like this (I am!)

This is one of my favorite images and topics. I wish I could handle Alien and it's movies so I could experience these more. I love iconography and design and no one else I know cares, so it's really nice to see you posting about it.

As someone who wore out my copy of The Book Of Alien in my youth, seeing so much of Cobb's design realised from new angles in this show, especially this week's episode, was amazing. The detail in the autodoc / medical bay was a delight. (What happened in that room, not so much.)
