Isn't this something the premier should know. He made it illegal not to give cops any budget they want , but stats show they don't need this. Is part of being the premiers or Fords specifically, just be an uneducated bully???

As candidates trade accusations over policing and public safety, criminologists say the gap between data and fear isn’t new, but it’s proving especially potent this municipal election season. https://mrf.lu/28yd2

Criminologists and sociologists have dubbed it the risk-fear paradox, often chalking it up to media coverage of crime and politicians using crime as a talking point. But the feelings of fear can also affect people’s behaviour. https://mrf.lu/28y0H

People are very easy to scare when dealing with the Other. Immigrants, minorities, whatever scapegoat is nice and obvious and unable to defend itself. As we've seen south of the border, and before that with Brexit, the facts don't seem to matter when you can just appeal to fear. Ugh.

How about massive financial crimes by our Premier and grotesque levels of criminality in our police force? Those have risen hugely. Maybe we could deal with them instead of ripping out bike lanes and destroying our waterfront and greenbelt. Priorities eh?

Facts are for losers. All the cool kids make stuff up just for kicks. In his Rebel-published endorsement of Bradford's campaign, Ezra Levant cites a Toronto "crime wave" of the imagination.

Yep. Crime happening does not equal a “crime wave”. Toronto Police's own numbers show crime rates dropping. People need to take a moment to recognize when fear is being used to shape an election.
