I NEED to understand how the O’Hare flyer got an agreement to run service every 15 mins with the Class I freight railroads.

The two corridors are only related in that they will operate on Class 1 trackage. But there is no "they" in common otherwise. CoCo is being led by the Front Range Passenger Rail Auth., a state govt. entity that has funding in place for DEN-Ft Collins service. O'Hare Express is a private company.

True...but hell that's 4 more options than we have now. COCO is tricky, in theory I love it, in practice I hate it. Would much prefer new rail with a more functional route but since that'll never get approved here we are

Hey I'm super pro COCO, don't get me wrong, but I think these two proposals are pretty structurally different despite both using freight tracks for passenger service.

They’re building their own tracks where there is current use and mostly using otherwise abandoned trackage. It won’t make the trip in 15 minutes and it won’t cost $2 billion.

I don’t think they have an agreement with all of them yet. If approved, they will build their own track wherever there is an active freight line. They wouldn’t be running on the same tracks as freight.

The blue line is in a highway median, you can add Express tracks by taking away car lanes. In the more urban parts you can add Express tracks just by building a second elevated deck above the existing elevated deck

This would be a lot more expensive than what the Flyer is trying to build 😅 Plus, without upgrading the power systems and rolling stock, any blue line express is limited to only 55mph

But it's kind of crazy regarding that the blue line's problems aren't because of something we cheaped out and didn't build, but because of something we did actually decide to spend money to build, but which drags down the performance of the blue line as an airport to downtown connection

If they're going to get their loop through the terminal at ORD then go for broke and try to get some sort of tunnel built under the taxiways to York Rd and west via the EOE. That way they could make a bit of extra revenue running a shuttle from west of O'hare into the terminal.
