you especially see this happening with the Hank Green situation… his fanbase is now divided over the minutiae of when is it okay to use AI and when isn’t it and ultimately they’re just creating a bunch of goofy rules and legalism that doesn’t make any sense and helps absolutely no one

Some of the issue though is Hank legitimately got addicted to AI, and it's not even 4o. He arguably was using AI like a researcher instead of a therapist and it still sent him to a bad place. Also finding the line is often how society works. But I agree there are bad directions to take it.

but here’s the thing, the only reason why we know it’s not healthy is cause hank knows the situation more than we ever could and that was his assessment! but also the contextual details of all this point to workaholism being the root issue

Yeah I don't think the fact that he used AI to help find papers was the unhealthy part. The unhealthy part was the exacerbation of the workaholism.

Plenty of people eat food without getting an eating disorder. But we know there's ways of approaching eating that can definitely cause eating disorders. Same with AI, although it's a much newer area
