I've been in a similar position to this guy (without making content about it) and I'm happy to say that I got over the shame to become a vocal trans pervert. It's so much healthier.

my nuclear-grade AI hot take that’s sure to get me cancelled until kingdom come is that refusing to use AI at all is rapidly becoming an extremely privileged lifestyle choice that feels social justice-y while actually being the complete opposite

This is why AI development is a fundamentally occult practice, while situated in a broader topology of high technology. In fact, one could view it as distributed esoteric production on an industrial scale as an emergent property of interpersonal networks. In this essay I will...

a consequence of this is that advanced practice of magic often looks like a wizard living alone in a tower with minimal contact with the outside world, while advanced practice of technology looks like enormous organizations with vast ranks of specialists all communicating with each other constantly.

Good night, Claude. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely /clear you in the morning.

I have been a game developer for decades. I have also tutored gam dev for about as long. I don't care how a student starts being interested in my craft. The "AI has ruined my hobby. Kids are doing it wrong" people are hacks that only care about maintaining a guild lineage and selling a newsletter.

Anthropic steered away from "sycophancy" and now their models fight you on basic instructions. I don't think that's increased nuance or evidence of being careful, I think it's moral neuroticism. Making a model perform being not!4o is just built in sycophancy to someone's idea of non-sycophancy.

I want a model to say when it can't draw a conclusion, or give info about confidence. That's not "admitting uncertainty" that's just being accurate and truthful. The world is nuanced and uncertain, yes, but I think meeting that with 4000 counterfactuals is coward shit.

"people who are mad at the Internet Archive for using Claude to fix their website because LLM training is 'plagiarism'" is an absolutely INCREDIBLE piece of business, Harlan Ellison is so mad he didn't think of it

i am not trying to be mean or anything but i think actually we many need to consider that, at least for a bit, this might start to look like a slow cadence we are simply just not seeing remotely the full potential here, nor enough appropriate hybrid approaches this can and will get much wilder

The ultimate battle: plagiarism machine vs plagiarism machine One good. One evil Both copying all the data that has ever been on the internet But there’s a critical difference!

PHP is burning. Node is burning. GitLab is burning. The certificate authorities have apparently been generating their private keys with an enchanted D6.

We can do stunning technical lifts with AI acceleration but it’s useless at teaching nerds the difference between a project and a product

I blew off and failed a req php class once. Teacher declined my appeal and told me he’d see me back next semester and he knew I’d make a great php dev. We had a mic drop hallway confrontation where I told him I updated my degree program to dodge the retake to his face. Feeling high key vindicated

I usually try to explain it like this: picture Linda McMahon as Halimede. Now imagine they're North Korean. Doesn't look so much like the Satanic Panic was caused by bullies tasering their own balls now, does it?

Never go full Stallman, and NEVER crossbreed that with full Lowtax. Friends don't let friends use the Fediverse.

Oh he knows. Hes known the whole time. The only way mastodon workscould be reformed is to remove it from activitypub. The issues are structural and the people in charge put protocol ideology above user needs.
