Trove isn't working. Dictionary of Scottish Architects plain broken. British Newspaper Archive now a complete pain to use. Scotland's People want to put their already steep charges up. Scran doesn't exist. NCAP still doesn't offer subscriptions. 🤦‍♂️ Somebody seriously wants me to get a new hobby...

I have the old Canmore site numbers and grid references stored in an Excel file (that's another thing that has disappeared, these days you can only download a mapping file) - if it would be useful to any one, I'm quite happy to pass it on.

If you have the old Canmore URL stored as a link that should still work (at least for a while) and since they didn't change the reference numbers you can still work round. But I find the new search function dreadful.

If you have old URLs, try the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. These days I am trying to use Save Page Now, saving pages with PrintFriendly, etc. just to have a snapshot of what I saw when. I wish I had done so for the old BLM/GLO website. The new site is a disaster.

Also, put the bloke* who did the accessible train times website in charge of _all_ transport-related stuff. * I think he's on here, but presumably he gets fed up with being admiringly tagged in other people's conversations.

I am utterly bewildered by the new BNA redesign. It used to be, there was an incentive to sub to BNA as well as findmypast in order to get a better search experience at BNA. Now, what's the point? I would rather they had changed fmp's newspaper search to work like the old BNA site.

Trying to follow up references from the old resources in the new ones you are directed to is a very dispiriting experience. Like looking into a big bucket of mud and hoping what you need might be in there, sonwhere.
