I There's been far too much negativity about the Chancellor's announcement he's reducing the cost of Gherkins - if you read the detail of the BBC article closer you'll find you'll also be tucking into cheaper *checks notes* kerosene and fertiliser. You'll be wanting those cough drops for afters.
“Officers attended and engaged with those involved. There were no arrests. Campaigning and demonstration are a legitimate, necessary and vital part of life"
Interesting tactic from Police Scotland who routinely kettle antifascist groups while they attempt to peacefully protest.

In August 1911 Harkness, family and friends were touring Lake Superior aboard her. Despite his wealth he baulked at paying the pilot’s $25 fee so took charge of navigation himself. He was using American charts, despite being in Canadian waters, and ran her onto the McGarvey Shoal at full speed ⛵🏝️🤦
She was stuck so fast that when the salvage men tried to pull her free the effort caused her to capsize. That was the end of her. The insurers paid out $100,000.

🪹🍻The Robin's Nest is in the news for the wrong reasons. Built in 1936 by Mrs Johan Thom as the "Greenend Inn". An "improved pub", it was an anachronistic arts & crafts-style take on an English country tavern to try counter the success of the Temperance movement threadinburgh.scot/2024/01/25/t...

📣 Seek shelter and deploy stock imagery of Scotrail in the Salty Sea Spray at Saltcoats.

Scottish journalistic stock imagery can be so predictably lazy. Property prices? Looking up the hill at Comely Bank tenements. Child poverty? Two kids who are now in their forties walking past a boarded up council house that was demolished in the nineties.

That will be another of HES's websites offline then... I'm assuming it's because of the PHP vulnerabilities, but not sure we should be optimistic it will return any time soon. Trove has also taken its images offline 🤷🏼
Trove isn't working. Dictionary of Scottish Architects plain broken. British Newspaper Archive now a complete pain to use. Scotland's People want to put their already steep charges up. Scran doesn't exist. NCAP still doesn't offer subscriptions.
